Just you and your muscle fibers. This is a race against the tide, the current, the clock—and maybe that voice in your head that asks what on earth you're doing out here. Whether you’re racing to win or for some other reason, SEVENTY48 doesn’t care how you do it—as long as it’s 100% human-powered. Kayaks, SUPs, pedal boats, rowboats, outrigger canoes, inflatable flamingos retrofitted with bike cranks—if it moves without wind or fuel, it’s fair game. And yes, there are prizes. The total prize pot typically tops $10,000 (based on the number of racers at the starting line), and the first to finish takes half of it. The rest is split evenly between three class winners and one Random Hero—chosen from the finishers, so even last place has a chance at the cash. After being left to rot in Dublin Bay Jabberwocky was in a very sorry state. Once out of the water we could see how bad things where with half the the gelcoat on the bottom of the yacht disappearing as the power hose removed the build up of marine life from the bottom of the boat. After a quick delivery trip up the east coast of Ireland Jabberwocky sat in idle for a couple of year before the team at Bottom Up Boats acquired with a plan to bring her back to her former glory. After stripping her back to bare fibreglass the team meticulously repaired and restored every inch of this Mumm 36.
