These boats are a real step up from other cruising catamarans which is why we have included them in our Luxury Catamarans sections. There is an associated jump in the price of course. This boat has been well thought out with wide, easy-to-navigate side decks and plenty of handholds. and you can tell very quickly that she was designed for long passages. The helm, engine controls, instruments, and electric sheet winches are all around the raised helm station that should make her easy to sail with a short-handed crew. Visibility is good all-around from the elevated helm position on the port side. The hulls, deck, cabin top, and bimini are foam-cored and resin-infused, and to reduce weight, furniture and bulkheads are made with foam-cored maple laminates. The people of Porto hold a huge celebration for the festival of São João (Saint John) on 23rd June. And by luck we were in Porto on the day after the festival, when the Rabelo Boat Regatta is held on the River Douro in the heart of the City. These shallow, flat bottom boats were originally used to transport the Port wine from the vineyards on the steep slopes of the extensive Douro River to the wineries in Porto, for ageing. These traditional boats were beginning to disappear by the early 1980s, so the Winery Brotherhood initiated the regatta, in which all of the major wineries are represented by their own boat each year.
