Nel tentativo di entrare nel porto turistico di Catanzaro Lido la barca a vela Meridian Chaser, battente bandiera canadese, si distrugge sugli scogli del molo . La causa si puo ascrivere a diverse circostanze contrarie quali il poco fondale, la risacca , il forte vento di scirocco che rendeva pericolosissimo l'avvicinamento e principalmente ad una cima impigliata nell'asse dell'elica. Infatti in altri filmati si vede la barca procedere con il motore fuoribordo ,solitamente in uso al tender, acceso ma poco funzionale. Risultato un disperso , per altro conosciuto in loco, dove aveva sostato tempo addietro in transito con una barca diversa. Tempestivo l'arrivo di carabinieri e vigili del fuoco.
