Due to a hectic week of sailing our boat to her berth, moving in and overwhelmed by fatigue, I made a preview for this week of vlog 11. Next week the full episode will be online! Short intro: After years of grief for my husband I've decided to change our home for a sailboat with ZERO experience...I'm just following my heart. I stay with my girls in The Netherlands where we at first will live on the boat untill my youngest will fly out..Then I will set sail to the world. Power catamarans have twin engines. That makes them much safer than a conventional single engined powerboat. It also makes them very manouverable. Here I am turning our Skoota 28 in circles without using the steering wheel. You can see the engines are in line, turning is achieved by putting one engine in reverse, the other in forward gear I'm not very good at it yet! In part because the engine thrust in forward is much greater than in reverse, (because the exhaust goes through the propeller), so the throttle in forward needs a delicate touch You can build your own Skoota 28 in plywood from plans by Woods Designs, see more at www.sailingcatamarans.com
