Hairy conditions on Thursday of Cowes Week which was also the third day of the XOD Centenary regatta. We're aboard XOD Class Captain William Norris's Beatrix with Vernon Nock (64) in the front of the boat and International Foiling Moth sailor (!) Peter Barton on the helm. William couldn't be aboard that day because he was on the Royal Yacht Squadron Platform with the Princess Royal who fired the starting cannon for this special race. In his place was Yachting World editor David Glenn. Unfortunately Beatrix was OCS which was apparently made clear to William Norris by the Princess Royal as the sail numbers were duly called out. We hope he didn't lay the blame too firmly at YW's doorstep! Despite the hiccup it was a truly great day's racing followed by a superb Centenary dinner party for 400 back in Cowes.
🇬🇧 The days go by, and no two are alike! While the sun was shining yesterday, today the sky is gray, and the rain is expected soon. Antoine Cornic is sailing ahead of the front that will bring wind during the day. But no matter the weather, the skipper remains in awe! ------------------------ ➡️ SUIVEZ-NOUS ! // FOLLOW US ! 🔗 Website : www.vendeeglobe.org 📸 Instagram : https://www.instagram.com/vendeeglobe/ 🐦 Twitter FR : https://twitter.com/VendeeGlobe | Twitter ENG : https://twitter.com/VendeeGlobeENG 🕺 TikTok : https://www.tiktok.com/@vendee_globe 💻 Facebook : https://www.facebook.com/VendeeGlobe 💼 LinkedIn : https://www.linkedin.com/company/vendée-globe/
We’ve made a significant upgrade to ensure we can sleep soundly and securely in our bunks when anchored. There’s nothing like the peace of mind that comes from knowing your boat is safe, even in challenging conditions. Our old anchor weighed 20 kg, but now we’ve stepped up to a 33 kg Vulcan, giving us even more stability and confidence while at anchor. It’s a game-changer for future adventures, making sure we’re well-prepared for whatever the seas throw at us! 🌊
