We are very excited to reveal our big project. San Diego’s first fully electric charter sailboat! ⛵️🔋 In this most recent refit of our Catalina 400, Bree Zen, we replaced the old Westerbeke diesel engine with a state-of-the-art electric motor. By replacing a diesel engine with an electric one, motoring in and out of the harbor is now a completely smooth and silent process. With no exhaust or diesel fumes, and no pollutants going into the water. 🌊 To support our new electric motor, we’ve integrated four 48-volt lithium batteries from Dakota Lithium. Thanks to Dakota Lithium and Electric Yachts - they’ve helped us take our sailing experiences to a whole new level! ⚡️⚡️ Our transition from diesel to electric power is part of our ongoing efforts to explore new innovations and products, and offer even more eco-friendly sailing experiences. After a long winter spent preparing for the 2019 52 SUPER SERIES season, the opening event in Mahón, Menorca will provide the first indication as to this season’s pecking order. Unlike the flood of new boats that were launched for 2018, this season sees a variety of tweaks and changes across the fleet as teams strive towards gaining an edge in an already highly refined and ultra competitive fleet. Among the changes, several teams with Botin designed boats have replaced their keel bulbs in a bid to improve performance. But teams themselves have also changed, most notably that of last year’s decisive champions Quantum Racing who have a number of key personnel changes. And then there is Vladimir Liubomirov’s Bronenosec Gazprom team, back after sitting out the 2018 circuit but now back with a brand new boat stacked with talent. So be it team changes, boat tweaks or new builds, there are plenty of new variables thrown into the mix for the start of the 5 event 2019 season. Racing started on 21st May.
