Nazwa, która oznacza górę "postrzępioną", odnosi się do malowniczych kształtów mocno zerodowanego masywu, zbudowanego głównie ze zlepieńca. Z pewnej odległości góra przypomina piłę, z zębami skierowanymi ku niebu.
