LATEST PROJECT: Whilst we saving for our dream boat, we converted an off-road van into a camper. This took us just over five days with a small budget (all currencies are in NZ dollars). Our plan is to buy a van in the winter (off-season), fix it up and then sell it in the summer to sustain our adventures for longer. Selling our first Sailboat was pretty simple. Getting our first Sailboat out of the water, was not so simple. The journey from Oriental Bay to Evans Bay usually would take around an hour, averaging at 5knots. With strong winds and gusts up to 30 knots, we motored out into Wellington harbour to decide whether it was a good idea to complete this journey today. Out in Wellington harbour, something didn't seem quite right. It was then that we noticed the engine was too far out of the water and sucking in air - causing us to drift towards the rocks besides the harbour. A few minutes of panic and concentration later, the engine was back in the water & we were ready to fight the stormy weather. Want the chance to come aboard and get more involved? Out of money and back to work we go! boohoo. Until we have figured out a way to travel sustainably, we will be working in New Zealand's capital city, Wellington. This is an amazing city and we can't really complain, although we are keen to get back out on the water asap. For the next few months we wouldn't be using the Nauti-Lass as much as we'd like to. So, we decided to put her up for $1 on an online auction. Want the chance to come aboard and get more involved? Staying in one location for a while isn't something that we are great at, although on this occasion we didn't have much choice. To avoid the strong winds and stormy weather across the strait we needed to wait in Picton until we could spot a good enough weather window to head back to Wellington: crossing the Cook Strait and Kaori rip. Our stay in Picton lasted a very fun, but long two weeks. In this space of time we had to take two trips to the sail repair shop, beached our boat and also, ran out of money. We crossed the Cook strait & stayed in small bays around Marlborough Sounds for three nights. Now it was time for our next challenge, The French Pass! We waited out an afternoon of bad weather at a bay beside the French Pass entrance: Catherine Cove. This was where we met the yacht Nephalle, a 40ft 18 tonne Sailboat. As Nephalle could average at around 8 knots and our average speed was only 5.5 knots, she offered to tow us through to get us across this piece of water quicker. Special thank you to the yacht Nephalle and our Patrons 💙

First National Nelson Regatta Week. Friday 19th - Wednesday, 24th January 2018. The Regatta started in Nelson, where the first races were held. Due to little to no winds, races 2 and 3 were cancelled. On Sunday, 21st of January a coastal race for the cruising boats was held. On Monday, 22nd January the keelers set off across the Tasman Bay for three days of coastal racing - including a night in Torrent bay and Tarakohe. On Wednesday, 24th of January all of the boats headed back to Nelson, where the Regatta came to an end. Tasman bay cruising club: http://tasmanbaycc.co.nz/nelson-regatta/

Click SUBSCRIBE to follow our journey 💙 After having originally planned to avoid the Cook Strait and our trip to Marlborough Sounds, we kept a close eye on the weather and luckily it changed in our favour. With winds of maximum 6 knots and swells of .5m, we set off early morning and motor sailed across the Cook Strait. Please note: As much as this looks like a relaxing sail in our video, it is a dangerous piece of water, which we would not have crossed unless the weather was in our favour.

Join our adventure by supporting us on: https://www.patreon.com/WorldsCorner Gahhhh, fifteen days left to fix our boat & we haven't even started.. We've got a huge list of things we need to sort out and hoping that we can get it all done in time before our trip. A couple of days ago we started working on the list, all was going well until we noticed something.. rotten wood. This meant that we would have to remove the teak wood & replace it ourselves. Click SUBSCRIBE to support our journey and keep up to date with these mad, but hopefully successful ideas. Who said having a boat was easy?? Yep, nobody!

Come and join our adventure: https://www.facebook.com/WorldsCornerSailing https://www.patreon.com/WorldsCorner WE BOUGHT A BOAT! ⛵️🐠 It's been a bit crazy over the past few weeks but the time has come & we have finally found our perfect boat. She is a 20ft Bilge keel trailer sailer and goes by the name of 'Nauti Lass'. Our journey began by driving down to Lake Taupo from Rotorua - where we trailered Nauti Lass. We took her out on the water and ended up staying out for three days, which we spent the majority of time learning to sail and swimming. We've still got so many more things to learn & practice before we set off on our big adventure but we are so excited! We are super excited to share this journey with our patrons & everybody else! It's finally time to find our boat!! ⛵️ We have also had some good news and managed to sell our Nissan Sunny for almost DOUBLE the $ we paid for it, which means we will be able to spend a little more on our boat 🎑 We packed up from our house sit in Auckland & started our road trip towards Bay of Plenty. 🚗 We decided to live in our car during the twelve days in between our house sits, to try and save as much money as possible for our boat. There are two boats in Rotorua that we went to view and it was time to decide which one we were going to choose! We set up a camping spot by Lake Rotorua. A small secluded beach, which was perfect for backpackers travelling by car or camper 🚗🔥🌃 Check out our Patreon page to find out more about our potential boats & adventures in Bay of Plenty! 🌏 https://www.patreon.com/WorldsCorner

Boat shopping has begun & flipping our first car for some extra money to put towards our first Sailboat. The past couple of weeks have been spent exploring Auckland. The boats we've viewed haven't been what we hoped for but we've found a couple more that we have good feelings about! ⛵️

PILOT EPISODE. Click SUBSCRIBE to follow our journey of how this works out.. or doesn't! ⛵️🌏 The question that had been on our minds for a while was: Should we quit our jobs & buy a boat? & the response we got back from the majority of people we'd spoken to was, yes, you absolutely should. Neither of us have a huge amount of sailing experience & it's always been something that we've wanted to try. So being two newly graduated young people, this could be one of the best times of our life to do it. We decided to go ahead with the idea, but after finishing three years of university our budget is pretty tight. To make sure we can actually make this idea happen, for the next month we will be working as hard as we can to be able to make this idea become reality!
