After leaving Callala Bay we continue to head down the New South Wales Coast stopping in Jervis Bay and Green Patch Beach in Booderee National Park. The beach was stunning. Like out of a movie set. No sidewalks or hardscape in the way... just natural streams trickling to the sea. As we walked to the beach we think we see Kangaroos but they turn out to be the local wallabies : Swamp Wallaby . We enjoyed our time at Green Patch Beach so much we didn't get to see the other beaches in Jervis Bay. Oh well, next time, after all we had to continue down to Merimbula and our next airbnb. Subscribe to see us continue down the East Coast of Australia. Cheers.
In June of 2022 we received a call that Grandpa had passed away back in Victoria, Australia. It was time to head home to see family and especially my Grandma. First we had to arrange plans for Justin, who has autism, to stay with his grandparents in Florida. Denise offered to fly him there. We all hopped on planes, Denise and Justin heading east, Cam, Ash and the girls heading west... half way around the world. After landing, securing our rental car, we had to quickly get jackets as it was winter in the southern hemisphere. Our Costco membership came in handy and worked great. Then we headed south down the coast to Callala Bay. What a beautiful road trip this turns out to be. The easter coast of New South Wales is gorgeous. So many beautiful birds.
In Part 3 of 3, we leave Ninilchik, Alaska on the Homer Peninsula and drive over to Seward, Alaska. He enjoyed roaming around this beautiful port city. We then drove to "Exit Glacier" to experience our first Glacier Hike ever. At the end of the video Lolo, grandpa, explains what it was like to try and survive in a canoe with Anthony who has Autism. Our Alaska trip was a fun memory for our family .
Alaska Summer Vacation Pt 2...Halibut Cove, Halibut Fishing off the Homer Spit.. So much Halibut ? !
Part 2 of our Alaskan Summer Vacation has us still on the Kenai Peninsula. We travel from the fish camp to the Homer Spit for a day charter to Halibut Cove. This place is gorgeous. Like a fairytale . Next we charter a fishing boat to go Halibut fishing off the Spit. We were up early and the seas were calm. We caught so much fish. We were able to have the fish processed and shipped home to California.
Summer 2014 continues as we leave Seattle and fly up to Anchorage, Alaska where we rent an RV and head on down to the Fishcamp. https://alaskafc.com The next day we tour the town of Ninilchik and prepare for a big Alaskan Fishcamp feast. Jay the owner, gave us a wonderful cooking lesson that we will never forget. Subscribe as there are more Alaskan vacation videos coming.
Ahh - life before the Pandemic! August of 2014 we took off from Long Beach, Ca with our extended family to Seattle and the Pacific North West. We stayed at a beautiful VBRO in La Conner, Washington overlooking Skagit Bay. We took day trips to Deception Pass, Snoqualmie Falls, and downtown Seattle - Pikes Place Market. I really miss these summer family vacations when our kids were young enough to just happily go wherever we took them. Nowadays, they want a say in where we go. Enjoy
Summer 2014, Yay! While the boys were busy with Summer school, the girls and I ran around Orange County. Grandma and Auntie Joy came to visit from Australia. Cayla joined the Kids Praise Band. Starbuck the cat continued to rule the house.
Spring Semester 2014 was full of fishy moments. We went to the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach over Spring Break. Micayla and her class performed "The little Mermaid" play and she had a solo performance. The solo starts at 5:04 All these years later she is still singing . Check her out on Instagram: @caylarosesings https://www.instagram.com/caylarosesings/?hl=en Anthony got the Sea King award at his high school Justin graduated from 8th Grade Baby Ariela tried to make off with some giant M&Ms. Don't forget to follow us on instagram @williswanderings
In this episode we get to check out the George C. Page Museum at the La Brea Tar Pits. Anthony was in awe as he stood next to these large animatronic Mammoth replicas. I got to learn all about the large ground sloth and Dire Wolves. The kids were excited to be able to touch real fossils. Be sure to check out the Tar Pits website for discounts on tickets and Free Days. https://tarpits.org Also make sure to follow us Instagram for our latest adventures. https://www.instagram.com/williswanderings/?hl=en Check out Anthony and Justin's Autism Awareness swag : https://www.redbubble.com/people/AnJAutismWorld/shop?asc=u&ref=account-nav-dropdown
Travel back in time to 1993 when we had no money but took off for the Caribbean anyways on free airmiles. The Video starts out in Newark New Jersey where we had to spend the night in the airport. We met a homeless man who called himself "Eddie Murphy". He entertained us throughout our 14 hour layover. Once we got to The USVI, we spent the first few nights camping on the Island of St. John ....watch out for the wild donkeys. {This was pre Sept 2011 and pre youtube era} and then we jumped aboard as crew with the Grandparents who booked a sailboat charter in the BVIs.
And the trip continues. This is a trip I will never forget and I cherish the memories with my Grandparents who have now passed on.

Welcome to our channel. We are family with special needs kids who like to hang out with some great friends. My best friend, Denise, and I have recently turned 40', and we are looking to find '40 fun things' to do in Southern California with our kids in tow. These kids will never be able to say, "Mom... we never did anything fun." HAHA ... Keep checking back for more So Cal adventures. Episode 13 we go to the La Brea Tar Pits in Los Angeles. Little did we know we would be surrounded by "Tar" . Tar everywhere. Gabrielle wasn't prepared for the sadness the Tar would ensnare her in... Lots of movie references followed. It was fun to see how each of our kids reacted differently to the many different Tar Pits. Anthony, who has Autism, loved this museum the most, as I could see his attention span held longer to the different exhibits around the Tar Pits. Taking my family out into the world is very important to me. I want to prepare them for various types of structured and unstructured encounters that Neurotypical people experience every day. This is my work-in-progress mission. Welcome to our channel. We are family with special needs kids who like to hang out with some great friends. My best friend, Denise, and I just turned 40', and we have decided to find 40 fun things to do in Southern California with our kids in tow. Keep checking back for more So Cal adventures. Episode 12 is our second adventure in Los Angeles after eating at Roscoe's House of Chicken and Waffles. With tummies full, we drove over to the LACMA /La Brea Tar Pits complex. This was my first time to these two Museums. We had planned this day of the month to be able to enter both Museums free as we weren't sure how Anthony and Justin (who both have Autism) would manage. Do to misunderstanding the LACMA website... we were not allowed to enter free because we were not LA residents. This was perplexing to me that the Tar Pits, Page Museum, would allow all people in free but the LACMA would only allow LA residents in for free. ... These two Museums were on the same grounds. It was also disappointing that the attendant at the LACMA ticket booth did not offer or know of any programs for people with "Special Needs" even after we asked. Later, in reading the website again,... we learned that a Professional Personal Care Attendant can enter free. What is a Professional PCA? Is that different than a Mom that functions as a PCA? We decided to settle for exploring the LACMA grounds only to have Justin attempt to touch a sculpture after not seeing the "DO NOT TOUCH" sign. The security guard reprimanded him ... which he does not handle well and put him in a emotional melt down.. This is something we have been working on his whole life with countless hours of ABA therapy. This was a good lesson for him about Museum etiquette. Taking my family out into the world is very important to me. I want to prepare them for various types of structured and unstructured encounters that Neurotypical people enjoy every day. This is my work-in-progress mission. I hope someday we can try again arrange a successful trip to the LACMA.
