Spring is finally here! At least it says so in the calendar. The weather, not so much. In this video we're doing the last preparations before putting the sailboat in the water, stepping the mast and sailing of on our first sailing voyage of the year. Never minding it was a bit on the cold side with 8,5 C and pouring rain from time to time. Perfect to see if the foul weather gear is up to the task. Glad to say that everything works perfectly, the though hull seams water tight and the boat is still floating. Follow us in our upcoming video where there's actually a glimpse of the sun. This might not be the most in depth guide but hopefully it will point you in the right direction of how to build yourself a cheap AIS-receiver from a Raspberry Pi and a DVB-T dongle for less than $50. Follow the steps in the guide and you'll have a working AIS-receiver. First of all, and MOST IMPORTANTLY make sure to buy a dongle with a compatible chip! 1. Spring is just around the corner and it's time to fix all the things before putting the sail boat in the ocean where she belongs. In this video we'll be talking about a few of our upcoming projects such as installing a new auto pilot, wind wane, depth finder and more. Just a few more weeks before we'll be out sailing again. Spring can't come fast enough!

In this video we'll be replacing the old cooling unit in our sailboat with a Isotherm Compact 2006. Watch the steps from covering up the old hole and filling it with isolation til the working end result. One of the best upgrades you can do to your boat if you have an icebox or a cooling unit without a compressor. The power savings are huge! We went from 6 amps continuous power consumption on the old unit to just about 0,6 amps on average. Perfect for sailing when you're not using the engine. A quick overview of when we installed LED lights in our sailboat. What to think of and what to look out for. Easy, cheap and a great way to save on power and at the same time make the interior of your boat/sailboat look more inviting. We've used 300 LED/m with 170 lm/m, CRI value of 86. Instead of buying the original display to the solar panel regulator I thought it would be more fun building on my own using a Arduino Uno and a 16x2 LCD-display. I've been using it for almost a year in my sailboat and it works flawlessly!
