Tangaroa is a 37 ft James Wharram Catamaran built in Adelaide South Australia Launched in 2012. James & Hannah have been living onboard for 5 years sailing the South Australian coast across the Great Australian Bight, up and down the West Australian coastline and more recently through the wild and remote Kimberley's. Tangaroa is currently up on the hard in Darwin Northern Territory, the gate way to the Kimberleys, Indonesia or the east coast of Australia. This is your chance to go live the DREAM! We beach the boat to clean the barnies off the hulls, probably not in the best place with Big Crocodiles around but we need a clean bum to sail around the most northerly cape in Western Australia which is notorious for being dangerous! We sail into the King George River, i think we were so blown away all we could say was Wow its spectacular, beautiful and stunning the whole time we were there ;) IT REALLY WAS!!!!!! We are so far up the Prince Regent River in the Kimberlies, it took us days battling head winds and huge tides, now we can relax are really enjoy what it has to offer! The magnificent Kings cascade was a highlight with an increased croc activity from now on, being very alert to anything that moves!! We visit the mermaid tree, Bigge Island with incredible Aboriginal rock art and have awesome light wind sails to some of the most remote places in Australia! As we cruise through the Kimberleys which is the most remote part of Australia we come across a small island in the middle of no where and nudge Tangaroa up to it! Crocodile Creek in the west Kimberleys Australia is one of the craziest anchorages we have ever sailed to! Up a creek past jagged rocks, sand bars, and a huge rusty ball of steel is a small deep hole underneath a waterfall. Its only accessible on high tide and when the water drains (up to 11 metres) you are land locked and tied up to the cliff face. We enjoyed sitting underneath a second waterfall on low tide and swam in the fresh pools up top! Not for the faint hearted to get up to this place, this is a real gem in the remote Australian lands!! As we sail through the remote Kimberlies which is only accessible by boat we come across an abandoned home up a creek in the middle of no where! Deserted and no one to be seen, we find out that it was called squatters arms, a couple who sailed in by yacht 20 years ago had set up a home and built a fresh water swimming tank, grew a lush tropical garden and lived there for many years. It was so COOL! Setting sail from the beloved remote islands of Nor west WA we head to Dampier Archipeligo to find an amazing shell and rock forte built by a man named Sam, we have a fast sail at 8-10 knots through the flying foam passage and SNAP our front Beam on the Tangaroa!!!! Sorry for the delay in videos, we have been trying to get over this bloody boat refit! 7 Months of hardcore work whilst trying to save up for our sailing season really got us! But this is the reality of owning a sail boat so as much as i dont like this video because there is no fun involved (both of us arent very energetic either) i thought i better post it to show what we have been going through and that sailing is not all sunshine and beers. Finally put the Lurvve pod on, which has been epic.
