@sailingsvcaterpillar4672 sailed into Aitutaki, Cook Islands, and made this video for any other cruisers interested in going there. It is in real time (not sped up) in order to see the actual current flow of the water. Part 1 is shot with GoPro from the Port side as we enter. Part 2 is shot from a drone flyover. We entered about 45 minutes after low tide. Depths are approximate and based on my recollection of glances at the transducer readings. This pass has a reputation for being difficult. Hopefully this is helpful to some of you. It should only improve as dredging continues. We loved Aitutaki and highly recommend a visit! Music credit goes to the Cook Islands Christian Church congregation in Arutanga.

We introduce you to our boat work mentor Hank Hinckley of the famous Hinckley Yachts family, who walks us through our refit priorities and gives us valuable advice. Then we get started on our refit by ripping out our "Pole Dancing" poles and stripping down the Yanmar diesel engines for removal. Then we empty the boat completely to get started on the refit, while Bill puts on a big red biohazard diaper! With the boat in the water again, we set off for an expected 3 day trip to motor 100 miles down the ICW to Wilmington and our chosen boatyard. We run into trouble along the way when we lose one engine and are forced to go the rest of the way with just one working engine. Later, we run aground and get stuck and have to get creative to save the boat. We discuss our boatyard search. One yard was too small, one was too big. Then we find one that is just right for us! It’s the quintessential story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears! After we decided on Wilmington Marine Center for our refit, we explore the city and do some wanna-be scratch n sniff video. Then we take you back to Buffalo as we get the house ready to sell. We finish up back at the boat by getting the fuel tank cleaned and the boat ready to splash again so we can motor her down to Wilmington. In this episode, we test our nerves going under some bridges on the Intra Coastal Waterway (ICW). Then we find our chosen boatyard is just too small to handle a catamaran our size, so we leave to find a more suitable place to haul out for our refit. Then we take you along as we attend the annual Annapolis fall sailboat show – the largest of it’s kind in the world – and give you a glimpse of the Cruisers University seminars. In our third episode, we pick up where we left off on our 1200 nautical mile passage. With the electrical problems resolved, our weather turns unsettled and we have a rough ride across the Gulf Stream Current. With squally weather and passing ships, we put our Radar and AIS to the test. In our second episode, we fly back to Sint Maarten, prepare the boat and set off for a 1200 nautical mile, 10-day, offshore passage to North Carolina. Halfway there, our idyllic sail takes a turn for the worse as we discover an electrical problem with one of our engines.
