I enjoy the solitude of sailing solo, but as they say, "No man is an island." That's why I always enjoy when a friend drops by. This is my mate, John in his OzGoose, 'Tadpole'—a very capable boat that I always enjoy sailing alongside. On a recent trip camping on the shore of the stunning Lake Glenbawn in the Hunter Valley, I took my little fibreglass clinker, 'Sparkle'—a 10 foot lug rigged dinghy I can pretty much drag anywhere—when who should slip into my quiet harbour! So here's to sailing with mates, and quiet cups of tea on solitary shores!

The Lake Macquarie RAID group got together for lunch on Pulbah Island, and then a camp over on the Sand Islands. I couldn’t make the overnight work this trip, but had a great day with the crew for my first RAID. A cracking Nor’easter blew up after lunch which made for some pretty trying conditions, but I was extremely pleased with how the little Tern handled herself.
