Join us as we finally leave Spain and sail east to the Italian island of Sardinia. We'll show you what we get up to on passage, and that while it might sound romantic sometimes the biggest challenge on a longer crossing is keeping yourself entertained. We clean up the boat, scrubbing the bottom and getting our first taste of silly season in the Balearics. We made this crossing in June 2023. Stay tuned for our next episode to survive the Summer with us in Sardinia during the HOTTEST SUMMER ON RECORD. Follow us on Instagram: @at_the_hansons Subscribe to our YouTube: Sailing Nendaz

Join us this week as I learn to DIY tune our rigging on our 40ft sail boat. We noticed that our leeward lower/ intermediate shrouds were very saggy when sailing upwind in 20 knots. After doing some research I realised this was less than ideal and is something we should address sooner rather than later. So I set about tuning our rigging, pre-tensioning the cap shrouds and backstay. Let us know how we got on, and whether this was remotely useful to you! This is definitely not a how to video, it is just me following a book, and trying to share my experience of tuning the rig as a total amateur. We are back! After an extended break we finally got round to editing and uploading a new video for you guys. We set the challenge to do 1 years worth of videos, 52 episodes, and once we did that it was great to just take a step back and relieve ourselves of the pressure for a while. We had a series of family committments to go back to the UK for, we both work part time, have boat maintenance/ jobs to do, and passage planning and sometimes trying to fit in a YouTube video as well means there is little time left to actually enjoy the places we travel. Anyway... In this weeks episode we show you some more, shall we say boring bits of living on a boat. We scrub the decks, do laundry, and get an Indian takeaway. Enjoy! Join us for this weeks episode as we undertake some engine maintenance aboard Nendaz. This time I handed the reigns over to Flick to have a go. She reluctantly took the baton and narrated her way through the maintenance jobs she was carrying out. The whole premise behind this one is that anyone can do an oil change with a little bit of research or guidance. Flick has no prior engine experience and (almost) enjoys the whole process. Join Flick to change the oil on our Perkins Prima M50, replace the oil filter, and then replace the primary fuel filter, which was well overdue! Join us for this weeks episode as we continue our journey down the Mallorcan Coast. Sa Calobra is a sailor's answer to Jurassic Park setting, except its in the Mediterranean! Sa Calobra is a breath taking bay nestled between steep sided cliffs and a rocky gorge. The limestone rock has been carved out over thousands of years by the Torrent de Pareis, which at this time of year is running very dry, but so we've heard is an altogether different beast come Winter. It can get very busy in the Summer but for us it was super quiet and beautiful. It felt very special and peaceful?well until Walter went wild hunting for fish? We continued exploring the canyon and then headed back to the boats together, where Phil and Joe got to shift from sailors to climbers? For a little bit of context, Joe is the kind of person who can't do anything by halves. He sailed as a teen competitively competing in various dingy worlds and nationals, when he started uni he traded in sailing for climbing and that took over his life instead. Phill and Joe have done a lot of climbing together over the last ten years, a lot a lot. In fact, they climbed a 3,000 foot vertical granite wall in Yosemite in the US known as The Nose. He doesn't get to climb as much now, obviously a sea life doesn't always lend itself to excellent rock - however he'll probably always be a climber at heart? Once their arms, hands and skin were sore enough to give up, they shifted to swimmers and divers playing around in the water before we lifted anchor to head further round this awesome coastline. Join us for this weeks episode as we continue our journey down the Mallorcan Coast. We give Tash an experience of what it means to be a liveaboard cruiser. And we end up helping out a cruiser in need with a hole in their boat due to a seacock that had sheared off, leaving a 3/4 inch hole in their hull below the waterline. It left us wondering whether we should buy a catamaran? And how could we fund it! Follow us on Instagram: @at_the_hansons Subscribe to our YouTube: Sailing Nendaz

Join us for this weeks episode as we hop along the Mallorcan coast, exploring some beautiful spots. We really had to pinch ourselves, the beaches were stunning, the water so turquoise and clear. We check out Peguera, the most German colonised Spanish town we have ever been to. All the restaurant menus were in German. I guess this is what it feels like when other folks visit a very British dominated Spanish town. After Peguera we moved as it was very rolly, and ended in an uncomfortable night sleep for Walter and us. We hopped along the cost to Cala Fornells which was gorgeous. Then moved again the following day over to Cala Illetes/ Camp de Mar. Wow, what a beautiful place too. We really settled into the lifestyle, met new friends, reunited with old ones, and enjoyed many sunsets. Follow us on Instagram: @at_the_hansons Subscribe to our YouTube: Sailing Nendaz

With the help of some other boats we pulled a sailing yacht off the rocks. It was stuck, having dragged anchor in the night. The Coastguard tried to pull the boat off with brute force earlier in the morning, failed and went home. With a little bit of brain power we successfully got her off the rocks!

Join us for this weeks episode as we arrive in Palma to see Team Ineos' Americas Cup boat blasting around the bay before going on to watch my brother Elliot Hanson, an Olympian racing in his Laser class dinghy. We took Dad + Hannah (his partner) out on the boat to watch, which was a very special couple of days. After this we moved round the corner to Cala Xinxell where we watched a lot of anchor chaos unfold. A local charter boat with skipper on board proceeded to anchor in the protected Poisidonia (seagrass), and then drag anchor, killing literally hundreds of years of cumulative growth. The grass grows at 1 millimetre per year. Then another boat dragged onto our friends SV Arlequin, and then again onto Sailing Saffron (Chris + Amy). We then had to help them as their throttle box later broke and their boat was stuck in forward gear.
