We're Aurora and Ben sailing and living on our boat Loon. Join us in this episode where we continue our journey back to Florida from the Bahamas. We face thunderstorm after thunderstorm and have ice hail in the Bahamas. We didn't even think it could hail ice in the Bahamas, what the heck! After heavy rain resulting in the interior of our sailboat also raining, Ben decides its time to fix our dorade vents. Ben re beds the vents on our sailboat to prevent raining indoors, lol. But its not all rain, we have a beautiful sunny sail from the Berry Islands to Lucaya, and have a pod of dolphins ride our bow which is always a magical moment. Subscribe for part 3 of our sailing journey from Bahamas to Florida as we finally cross the Gulf Stream and pull into Fort Pierce Florida. In Florida we are hauling out for hurricane season and have a video covering EVERY thing we did to prep the boat for the hard. Subscribe so you don't miss anything! Join us, Ben and Aurora on our sailboat Loon. In this weeks episode we are taking you to Dean's Blue Hole in Long Island, Bahamas. This was one of the highlights of our entire winter, we can't wait to show you how cool this blue hole was. We spent an hour freediving and snorkeling this amazing sight. After the Blue Hole, we pull up anchor early the next morning to run from an incoming storm. This sail is the calm before the storm, and we motor to Rum Cay, it was so beautiful. This was the most amazing sunrise I've ever seen. After a quick tour of Rum Cay, we are off to Conception Island. Conception Island is one of our favorite anchorages and takes the cake for our most favorite beach, WOW. We can't wait to bring you along on this week's amazing adventures. If you are looking for places to go in the Bahamas, watch this video, because these locations were some of the best places we've ever been. Thank you for watching. We appreciate your support so much. Come fish with us as we sail from Georgetown to Long Island. On our first day, we are unsuccessful only catching some plastic. But we don't give up and throw the lines out for our long sail down the coast of Long Island. We kick it off by catching a Mackerel, and then we get hit with a big Mahi Mahi, YAY! We don't have ice, a cooler, or a big enough fridge, so Danny has to clean the Mahi Mahi while we are sailing and heeled over. Right as we finish up cleaning the Mahi, ZINGGGG our second line is hit with another Mahi!! Beauty! We reel in our second fish and Danny cleans it up beautifully heeled over once again. Then, we COOK! Chef Danny has blackened Mahi tacos and Mahi ceviche on the menu for dinner. Watch Danny BBQ some beautiful mahi and assemble an amazing dinner. This is the video for your fresh fish recipe / mahi recipe. Aurora, Ben, Danny all have big thumbs up for this yummy mahi mahi catch and cook. Thank you so much for watching! Come along for a week in the life living on our sailboat Loon. After a few weeks in Staniel Cay with guests, we finally depart and head to Black Point. The anchorage in Black Point is very rolly, so we spend the day on land, renting a golf cart to explore the beautiful island. We finally find sea glass, and lots of it, and add it to our beach treasure collection. We take the golf cart off-roading, swim, and explore. Early the next day we pull up anchor in the rolly anchorage and take Dotham cut to the leeward side of the island for a sail to Rat Cay. Rat Cay is stunning and a breath of fresh air as there is only one other sailboat anchored nearby. We have an amazing day exploring beaches, playing frisbee, hand-feeding curly-tailed lizards, snorkeling, and discover a blowhole. This blowhole is insane, and Aurora is almost blown away by it. Ben does an oil change on our generator and we pull up anchor and head to Emerald Bay marina. We rent a car to drive 25 minutes into Georgetown for errands, we refill our propane, stock up on drinking water, check out some local marine stores, and drop our ripped bimini top off at a local seamstress. We take you along for our daily boat walk where we admire the amazing sailboats we see.. one can dream!!! We say goodbye to Aurora's parents as they leave, and we pick up our new crew Danny. We put up our newly repaired bimini top, and it's amazing, we are so excited to have shade again. Danny is joining Loon for a month to help us sail further south to some remote islands in the Bahamas, and then onto the Dominican Republic and onward! Danny came bearing gifts with some awesome new fishing and spearfishing gear, and Ben drools over our new reel. SUBSCRIBE for the INSANE adventures we have coming, CRAZY SAILING, FISHING, AND LIVING OFF THE LAND!!! We are so excited for what's to come. Thank you so much for watching. Join us for a day in the life living on our sailboat Loon. This was a very eventful day with lots to see. We show you everything from the quirks of making coffee and cooking on a sailboat, the small local grocery store in Staniel Cay, to boat chores and boat fun. After a morning of errands and boat work, we take off spearfishing to catch some dinner. Ben spears a beautiful strawberry grouper that we cook up for dinner. Whats better than a catch and cook! We also snorkel the Thunderball Grotto, and do some cave diving. The grotto is lots of fun until Aurora loses a fin cave diving and hits her head on a rock, resulting in blood all over, and promptly heading back to the dinghy. Nurse sharks swarm the back of our boat as Ben filets our grouper for dinner. We have fried grouper sandwiches for dinner, and that's a day in the life! Thank you so much for watching. And we will show you all Shroud Cay has to offer. Including the famous "washing machine" natural waterslide, the lookout point where the FDA spied on the drug trade at Norman's Cay, and all through the many mangrove canals. Join us this week as we explore Hoffmans Blue Hole in the Berry Islands. Come with Ben as he goes spearfishing, and see some amazing coral and fish. Then we head to an amazing white sand beach, and as we wade through the water we find some cool creatures. Due to changing winds, we move anchorages to just around the corner. While there is a lot of sand to anchor in Saddleback Cay area, everyone ended up anchoring on a rocky bottom in an attempt to hide from the wind. PHEW this was sketchy!! We could hear our chain dragging across rock all night... can't say we had the best sleep. SO off to Chub Cay we headed in preparation for our crossing to the Exumas. Thank you SO much for watching.
