In 3 years of sailing the world, we have not had any cockroaches or pests on our sailboat. We always throw away any cardboard packaging before we bring our provisions onto the boat. We also spray our lines with bug repellent when we are in a port with pests.

While sailing the world on our 44 ft Salona, I contracted Dengue Fever in Tahiti. I didn't know that I had it until I took a trip to the U.S. for my mother's birthday. One day I was fine and the next day I had 103.3 fever. It definitely lives up to its name of break bone fever. All the bones in my body felt like they were cracking. It started with a pain in my eye that I thought was just my contact.
