While it has been a while since Celina got stolen the second hand market seems to cool down again. That´s why I am back looking for a new sailboat preferably another Sun Magic 44. At the same time I continue to enjoy the sea on an inflatable kayak. I grew the crazy idea to circumnavigate Mallorca on this kayak.

What a nightmare...Celina was stolen. After I left Celina at her usual spot in Palmanova safe and sound I returned the next morning to check on her. But to my surprise she was not there anymore. First I had hoped that Franz took her for an early sail but then I realized that my dinghy was drifting in the bay. The chain lock was broken and together with the chain I found it at the bottom of the sea. With pure luck I could get hands on my dinghy again and secure it at the pier where I left it before. It took me a while to realize what had happened before I ran off to the police. At the same moment I got in contact with my insurance company as well. I remembered that I was covered for theft. Or so I hoped...

Come on board and join me on my first fail attempt sailing to the island of Sa Dragonera. It all started with a stolen dinghy and continued with more troubles once I set sail. The bilge pump started to operate even though the bilge was quite empty, the wind dropped just to come back stronger a few minutes later and so it made it quite impossible to keep heading. Once in a while one has to admit that a day like this cannot be saved. After Celina got her new livery and some other improvements it was time to test her on a short 30 nautical mile trip to the islands of Cabrera. I set sail in the morning hours and the breeze was steady but not too strong. It was such a great feeling being out there after six weeks of hard work in the docks. Cabrera is a natural reserve and they provide buoys since anchoring is not allowed. After a calm and relaxed night I explored the island and learned about its history involving pirates and Napoleon. Since my plan always was to anchor Celina in bays around the world I really depend on a means of transportation to reach land. Like the rest of the sailing community I use a dinghy which I built myself in late 2019 even before I bought Celina. It is made of 6mm plywood and lots of epoxy reinforced with glass fibre and consists of two separate shells, aka nesting dinghy. My dinghy is about 3 m long but when nested it is just about the half and fits easily on the foredeck of Celina. What fun this little boat is. I can use it with an engine, pure muscle power or even with a sail. It is a reliable and fun machine. Celina is still not recovered yet from the theft more than a month ago. However I would like to share this video with you which was made in November 2022. Celina came basically ready to sail, however as boat owner you will never have an empty to-do list. During our maintenance weeks we applied new anti-fouling, a new livery, we took care of previous damages and sealed the windows. Little drama in the mountains while I was hiking on the mountain ridge of Moleta de s´Esclop. Already on my last third of this lovely round-course I stumbled over some rocks, slipped and landed in the grass. I hit my arm and my leg rather badly and I had some painful minutes collecting my thoughts.
