Why did we sell our house and the security of life on land for a sailboat? With no experience whatsoever of sailing, or living on a boat, we took a huge gamble in order to escape the normalities of life and do something a little crazy. We bought a boat! So, we seriously considered all of our options. We had Ellie (our dog) at the time, so whatever it was we were going to do, she had to be there with us! So, it left us with 2 options. Could we buy a campervan, or by a van and convert it into something we could live in full time? We decided a camper wasn't the best solution for us. So that left us with one option. A boat. So we sold our house, bought a boat, and learnt to sail. Sounds simple. But it's been a CRAZY journey of learning a lot, stressing out a lot, and being thrown into so many circumstances that would terrify you 2 years ago! And, through all the struggles, it has been the best decision of our lives. Now. We just need to figure out how we can can make some money so we can stay out here....any ideas? Living onboard a boat, with no previous expereince has been an incredible journey. But it has also made us go out of our comfort zones time and time again. Today, was another one of those times. In todays episode, we sail around the final cape of the Pelopennese, in the calmest seas and winds possible to avoid any problems. Well, obviously things didn't go to plan. While motor sailing in 5 knots of wind, we hear a massive rip, look up, and in absolute disbelief, we sail our sail has ripped. From this point we really didnt have the motivation to film everything, so we pack away the sail, explore Monevasia (which has to be one of the most beautiful places we have been) and continue our journey to get the sail repaired! Welcome everyone, to Pilos (Pylos), a little town, with a crazy story going back centuries. This week, we fix our engine! Which is a HUGE relief as we will need to motor a lot to get around the Peloponnese. We also get to explore the Fortress of New Navarino, which is a HUGE castle on the south side of Navarino Bay.
