Tschüss 2 Claims IRC Super Zero Victory at the 2025 Rolex Fastnet Race Christian Zugel’s Tschüss 2 (USA70000), co-skippered by Johnny Mordaunt, has taken the win in the highly competitive IRC Super Zero division at the centenary edition of the Rolex Fastnet Race. The VO70 completed the iconic offshore course in an elapsed time of 2 days, 17 hours, and 21 minutes, crossing the finish line off Cherbourg at 05:11 BST on 29 July 2025. With a TCC of 1.617, Tschüss 2 corrected out to a final time of 4 days, 9 hours, and 40 minutes — edging ahead of high-calibre rivals including Roy Disney’s Pyewacket 70 and the 30m Leopard 3, skippered by Chris Sherlock. The win caps off an outstanding season for the former Groupama 4 VO70, originally skippered by Franck Cammas in the Volvo Ocean Race. Now flying the flag for the United States, Tschüss 2 continues to build an impressive offshore racing legacy under Zugel’s leadership. #RolexFastnetRace #Tschüss2 #IRCZero #OffshoreRacing #RORCracing #VO70

The Transatlantic Race 2025 is organized by the New York Yacht Club and the Royal Ocean Racing Club, with support from the Royal Yacht Squadron and the Storm Trysail Club. Six days into the West-East Transatlantic Race, Christian Zugel’s Volvo 70 Tschüss 2, co-skippered by Johnny Mordaunt, has raced over 2,000 miles and is the clear leader for both Monohull Line Honours and the overall IRC win. “For the first few days of the race, we had a variety of conditions, mainly driven by sea temperature changes. The plan is panning out—but everybody sticks to the plan until it punches you in the face,” commented Tschüss 2 navigator Campbell Field, taking nothing for granted. A standout feature of their progress has been precision navigation through the Gulf Stream’s meanders. “We picked up over three knots of current in one area and nearly four in another,” explains Field. “Sea temperature has been a big indicator—we saw it drop from 25°C to just under 8°C in a matter of hours.” Their 24-hour distance run has peaked at 491.5 nautical miles, averaging 20.5 knots. With 3.8 knots of favourable current and sustained speeds of 18–19 knots, they’re pushing hard. “We’re not cutting corners—we passed just a mile off Point Alpha,” says Field. “We’ve got 1,600nm to go, and anything can happen, but right now, we could beat the previous boat’s elapsed time.” That time—10 Days, 9 Hours, 1 Minute, and 42 Seconds—was set in 2019 by Wizard, now racing as Tschüss 2. Current projections show a finish nearly two days faster. Their main challenge is staying ahead of a cold front expected within 48 hours. “It’s all about placing ourselves on the leading edge. We’re running our own race, and if we stay smart, we’ll finish strong,” Field concluded. #rorcracing #TransatlanticRace #nyyc #ircrating

The Royal Ocean Racing Club is delighted to announce that for 2025 and 2027 the port town of Cherbourg-en-Cotentin will continue to host the finish of the famous biennial Rolex Fastnet Race. The 2025 Rolex Fastnet Race will be held during the Club’s centenary year when another record entry is expected. The 51st edition of the Rolex Fastnet Race starts from the Royal Yacht Squadron line on Saturday 26th July, 2025, prior to the annual Cowes Week festivities. From seven participants in its first edition in 1925, the 2023 Rolex Fastnet Race attracted a record 430 boats. For the next edition, the RORC is planning for an even larger international fleet. Entries for the 2025 Rolex Fastnet Race are expected to be even higher due to the 100th anniversary of the Royal Ocean Racing Club and the return of The Admiral’s Cup. Since 2021, the Rolex Fastnet Race finish has been in Cherbourg-en-Cotentin due to the port’s outstanding facilities which can accommodate the world record fleet. The Rolex Fastnet Race has the support of the City, the Communauté d’Agglomération du Cotentin, and the Département de la Manche & Région Normandie. Cherbourg-en-Cotentin is one of France’s great Channel ports, closely linked to naval history and transatlantic adventures, and the Cotentin coast is home to many prominent water sports events. #RolexFastnetRace #RORCracing #Rolex #Yachting #Sailing ©️ ROLEX

At 0700 UTC - day 3 - Roschier Baltic Sea Race: “Tschüss is in 30-35 knots of wind and it has been a bit bumpy!” commented Campbell Field, Tschüss 2 navigator on Monday morning 29th July. “Our ETA is a bit tricky to predict because our polars say we should be at 20 knots, but that wasn’t possible with this sea state. Right now (0800 UTC), the sea state has eased up a bit, the throttle is wide open, two reefs and the J4 on and hitting 24kt of boat speed at times. 96nm to go!”

The RORC Griffin Team flies around Giraglia! Congratulations to the RORC Griffin Team of Lydia Barber & Josh Dawson for taking runner up in the Eurosaf Mixed Offshore European Championship. Racing in a Figaro 3 provided to the RORC as wild card entry with a free charter and regatta entry. The European Championship is part of the Marina Militare Nastro Rosa Tour. The RORC team of Lydia Barber & Josh Dawson racing San Marco was just under two hours behind the winning Team Anemos sailed by Roberta Fazzana & Andrea Caracci. The RORC Team raced from La Spezia to Genoa via the Giraglia Rock in an elapsed time of 2 days 11 hrs 25 mins 5 secs. Lydia and Josh had a terrific battle at the front of the fleet with just 12 minutes separating second from fourth in a race of nearly two and half days. “Super happy to hold on and finish second in the EUROSAF mixed double handed European Championships!” commented Josh Dawson. “The race was very challenging with every possible set of conditions. We had plenty of drifting, some lightning storms and a fun 25knt blast around Giraglia! “We had a good start and built a five mile lead on Leg One before getting shut down and overtaken behind Elba. The race compressed at the half way point and we then bounced around the top three positions for the rest of the race. Coming into the last 20 miles, we had a small lead in second and tried to hold on through the final shut downs off Genoa. The top four all finished within an hour after 2 and a half days of tight racing. Overall, it has been a great week in Italy!!! Thank you to RORC and the Nastro Rosa tour for the wild card entry.”
