Finally decided to take Jessica out for a health check. Thought it'd be a nice quick turn around but ended up having a full hull survey and some welding and fitting out. Over the moon with the finish and work I've had done. Now time to sit back and relax on board.

Living in a small space means a big change might be a little thing. Today I changed the colour of my kitchen to help find things to match. It was a struggle with the green as much as I loved it. I went for grey. But it ended up blue - story of my life, but I like it. And it feels much more like a man cave than a granny flat.

I've only got a pump out on my narrow boat. This is perfect for me as it's minimal contact with waste. Hate the stuff. I wanted to share my first time doing it alone. As past experiences I've been at a marina where someone does it for me. It was actually pretty easy - smelly, but now it's empty I'm floating a lot better. Interested in hearing other people's views on the age old argument that surrounds toilets on narrow boats ;p Hit it

Before any cruise - apparently you're meant to check the key parts of your engine. I've only just learnt this, 4 months in, so I was the lucky one. Thankfully the neighbouring boats have helped me a lot to understand what in need to check.

Naturally on board a narrowboat there is tonnes of rust, here is just another one of those. I decided to move my wardrobe area to this thinner cupboard to save space. But when I opened the wood base I discovered where the rest of the toilet box was. And it wasn't pretty !! Anyway - a little kurust and good as new !!
