Now the work is done and I am underway I explain the various mods I made to the Valiant 42 to get her read for the circumnavigation of the Arctic. Follow the trip at: www.oceanresearchproject.org
I will break down the circumnavigation into three phases To follow the trip go to: www.oceanresearchproject.org

The Ocean research project team uses two acoustic doppler current profilers to measure the velocity of melt water coming from Greenland's glaciers. This data will contribute to sea level rise models. Please support our research: www.oceanresearchproject.org
18 million people along the Chesapeake Bay are unaware of how big the plastic pollution in the bay has gotten. Woodard & Curran Foundation sponsored the local non-profit Ocean Research Project (ORP) to make their impact, to set sail and address the distribution and abundance of microplastic pollution across 15 environmentally monitored regions. Sailentist, Nicole Trenholm lead the science team, she is motivated for a future where we can monitor and score plastic pollution in future watershed report cards and to help EPA define pollution thresholds and reduction goals. Captain Matthew Rutherford helped her transform the SRV Marie Tharp for optimal microplastic sampling and low-carbon operations under sail. Together they spearheaded the exploration to unravel the truth about severity of bay-wide microplastic pollution while results provoke further questions. Please support their continued work in microplastic pollution monitoring. www.oceanresearchproject.com "Video and Reporting by Timothy Wolfer"

Since 2015, Ocean Research Project 501c3 is grateful for the sponsorship with RBR in the ongoing coastal investigation of the Arctic's glaciated coastline. With RBR profiling sensors our team has captured hundreds of observations of the exchange of ocean and fjord water masses, tracing the pathway of warm water currents and observing the biogeochemical response.

The Ocean Research Project (ORP) is dedicated to scientific exploration under sail in pursuit of the knowledge necessary to better understand human-induced stress on the Ocean. We are forging a new path of discovery by combining modern technology with age-old efficiency to create lower-cost research expeditions that provide an effective alternative to the more costly, big science paradigm. ORP’s research objectives are from close collaborations with scientists focusing on the most critical environmental issues. After Matt Rutherford finished his record-making, solo circumnavigation of the Americas, he knew sailing was his passion. He was determined to find a way to use this passion to give something back to the Ocean. In 2012, Matt founded Ocean Research Project (ORP), a nonprofit organization based in Annapolis, Maryland. Since its founding, ORP has been dedicated to reversing humanity’s negative impact on the Ocean through science, exploration, and education.
