Sailing SV Freelance is about our sailing adventures, primarily on the Great Lakes of North America. Vicki and I sail a Pearson 36 Cutter, also known as a Pearson 367. It’s classified as a moderate ocean cruiser, and we know first hand that it can sometimes handle the conditions better than we can. Our homeport is Port Superior Marina by the charming town of Bayfield, Wisconsin, at Lake Superior’s awesome Apostle Islands. However, you may happen to cross wakes with Freelance in many other sections of the big lake, or in Lake Huron and Lake Michigan. Originally from the saltwater port of Copenhagen, Denmark, I find the Great Lakes to be an exotic, far away place, which offers plenty of sailing challenges and adventures. Vicki and I do have something to compare them to. We have also sailed the waters of the Bahamas, Caribbean, Florida, California, and Denmark. I’m a Past Commodore of the Great Lakes Cruising Club, and hold a USCG Master’s ticket.
