This video I'm setting up the collapsible table, and the very important first hot brew of the trip - curtesy of the Jetboil Flash. Later that evening, mum and I review two Firepot dehydrated meals, porcini mushrooms, and dahl and rice with spinach - are they any good?

Hello lovely people! I'm back after a long break and planning to do ad hoc videos. Mum and I have found a new love of cycling and have started up camping together, so if you fancy watching slightly random and sometimes silly videos of two women doing outdoor things, then let me know in the comments! This video gives you some snippets of the sorts of things to expect over the next few videos; what equipment we'll use, kit demos, nature walks, outdoor cooking, camping, and more!
Well that's it folks! Everything is packed and gone, and it's very sad to be leaving and signing off for the last time aboard the narrowboat Ganymede. She's on brokerage now, so do please have a look - who knows, maybe Ganymede is the boat for you! Don't forget, Ganymede's new owner gets a special video just for them ? https://www.abcboatsales.com/boat-sales/ganymede/ If you've enjoyed watching my videos and would like to buy me a coffee, you can do that at: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/1mvXJqzrO1 If you'd like to follow me on instagram, you can find me at: https://www.instagram.com/_narrowboatnoob/
All good things come to an end, and it's time to sell the narrowboat Ganymede. So grab a hot brew and sit with me as I talk about what it takes to sell a narrowboat.
Hello! I am hoping all of you my lovely viewers are keeping well. For those of you in winter like me, we're nearly through it folks! This weeks video is a bit mish-mash. Starting back in October 2023 with a chat about humidity and whether a dehumidifyer actually does anything on a boat, then jumping forward a few months (to 2024, not 2023 like the video would have you believe!) to look at some lovely portraits done by robert james photography - robert.jamesphotography@outlook.com. Follow me then into the present day (again, 2024 ?) with a sneaky postscript about the future.
Well in true narrowboat fashion, there's no such thing as a simple job. Every job always leads to another, or is a much bigger job than you originally thought. This time, a simple leaking mushroom in need of new seals became a too big hole that needs a weld job once the weather improves. So for now, it's a bodge job to just weatherproof it over the winter. The sealant I used on this job was fantastic, and recommended by marina staff, its called Sika Sikaflex EBT+.

Hello! This week's video is a mash up of bits from the last 6 months. I saw some incredible carp in the marina, they hung around for ages and I was super happy to sit and watch them for quite a while. I went to Bristol and of course took a walk by the docks, even spotting a lone narrowboat. In need of a new mattress I bought one along with underlay from a specialist company, and a sofa to make my floating home even more homely. Last but possibly the most exciting, my family and I spent the day on "Lazy Days", the Blackwater Meadow ABC Hire Boat. It was lovely weather and a very nice day - although I was more stressed than I thought I'd be and it was quite the effort to let go of control and just enjoy being cruised around! https://customsizebeds.co.uk/ https://www.abcdayboathire.com/
Long time no see! It's been quite a while and I'm glad to be able to finally release this video. It took me a long time to be able to film this and explain why I've been away for so long. I'll be releasing more regular videos now, but not at the same frequency as previously, proabably monthly rather than weekly.
Well it's another hot spell here in the UK, and I'm struggling to keep the boat cool yet again. I've got new blinds and my trusty fan though so we'll see how it goes! Anyone else considering air-con this year?
A bit of an update on internet this week folks, recorded from the floor ? Then I go on the hunt for a weird smell, and decide it's high time I pulled out the fridge! Join me on another adventure to find more fantastic filth!
It's time for the second half of the trip to Frankton Locks! A sunny bank holiday weekend meant everyone and their boats were out on the waterways. Lots of boats, lots of close calls, and lots of getting stuck on the bottom. Couple that with a cocked up winding and I was keen to call it a day! Sufficit to say, the evening's rum was well deserved! Editors warning! Apologies for some very glitchy footage, it was taken on my brothers' phone and my editing software just couldnt cope with the resolution! But I thought I'd best include it rather than not, so I'm sorry for any issues.
The trip to Frankton Locks gets underway! Joining me on this trip is first time narrowboater, my brother! He takes to the tiller like a pro and does most of this first leg by himself. It's a super gloomy and rainy day - but on the canals the silver lining of bad weather is how quiet it is! Watch next week's video for the rest of the adventure! Hello everyone! A quick one from me this week - talking about downloading footage, terrible internet, and cruising chaos.
Some things on a narrowboat need doing regularly. The toilet most of all! Also clearing out the drainage channels on the deck, and filling up on gas. If you've not a continuous cruiser, it's important to run your engine too now an again, so checking the oil and turning the old girl on was part of this weekends jobs list! The rain wasn't part of my plan, but hey ho, it's Britain! Thanks for watching! If you like my videos and would like to help me out by buying me a coffee, you can do so here: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/1mvXJqzrO1 It is much appreciated, and I'll be sure to give you a shout out ?
This week we visit the historic canal town of Whitchurch. We didn't explore much on this trip, but had a lovely walk through the park and up the high street, visiting the zero waste shop 'Refill Your Boots' and 'Costa' for a coffee along the way. If you're interested in walking from the canal to where we started today's walk, check out the Google Map directions: https://goo.gl/maps/VxkXufUN1weg1nsR6 A previous video of mine showed a walk along the canal starting at the end of the Whitchurch branch, check that out here: https://youtu.be/gjHgvcMGu2Q Find out more about 'Refill Your Boots' zero waste shop here: https://refillyourboots.co.uk/ If you like my videos and would like to buy me a coffee, you can do that here: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/1mvXJqzrO1 Thanks for watching!
Joys of boating, a blocked drain! The water has been draining slower and slower for about a week now, finally spurring me into tackling it. Also this week, I've put the bathroom wall back together, and fitted an ok (bit of a bodge job) floor for the cabinet. All in all, fairly proud ?
Hello! I'm Alice, and I liveaboard the narrowboat Ganymede in a marina on the beautiful Llangollen Canal. This is my first boat, and I've only had her for a year! I'm not quite the noob I was a year ago, but I've still got plenty of things to learn. You can watch all my adventures so far, and do join me for year two!
Do you wonder what it might cost to live on a narrowboat? Is it really cheaper than living in a house? I've totted up what I've spent during the first year of owning and living aboard a narrowboat - I'm hoping the cost isn't too eye-watering! Link to my internet video: https://youtu.be/TFwS6Xkk0jM
