This event consists two seperate events over two days for the UK rankings. This event also qualifies for the IOM World Championships due to be held in the UK in 2026 and therefore attracted all top UK helms. North Yorkshire Waterpark is the home of Scarborough Model Yacht club and also hosts many other types of sailing and yachting activities, Model yacht racing (often refered to as Radio Sailing) is a competitive form of yacht racing run along similar lines to dinghy racing and keelboat racing. Different classes of model yacht are raced, these range from inexpensive mass produced yachts to expensive craftsman made boats. Model yacht racing is a sport in which small sailboats generally under one metre in length are raced against each other in a controlled environment such as a pond, lake, or indoor swimming pool. The only method of propulsion is the wind on the sails. Electronic radio controled winches are used to trim the sails and steer the yachts. Blithfield Sailing Club is situated on the banks of the largest reservoir in Staffordshire and supports yacht racing in dinghies and model yachts. The DF65s raced on Saturday and DF95s on the Sunday. There was a good turnout for the event of 37 DF65s and 36 DF95s on Sunday. The racing was held over weekend of unprecedented warm weather and enjoyed by all. This video is a short report on the 2023 DF95 or DragonFlite 2023 Global Regatta held in Fleetwood, UK on the 12th - 19th May 2023 This regatta is an invitation regatta with top helms attending from all over the globe sailing in the DF95 or "Dragonflite" class model yacht. There was a healthy turnout of 33 DF65s and 39 DF95s on Sunday.
