Enjoying every time on my WETA, no matter what the wind conditions are. There is always something to improve and I mainly find it out after I am watching the videos I recorded. It has been a great day out again, with very low winds. In this video I am testing camera angles and the use of FCPX Software to synchronize the two angles of the cameras and show the outcome on a split screen. I am new to FCPX. I like the SW, gives a lot of possibilities but also needs time to explore all this. Any feedback is welcome. The cameras I am using here, an old GoPro fixed on the Gennaker pole and a Insta 360 OneX at the stern. In the video I am playing around with boat handling, tacking with reduced speed loss, balancing the boat by moving the weight at time and position. Trimming sails and testing my Cunningham modification. The conditions as mentioned low winds, very tricky, lots of wind shifts.

End of November sailing in Shanghai on Dianshan Lake. Northern cold breezes, shallow waters, thats winter in Shanghai. With the right weather gear no problem. Lets enjoy the ride on the WETA.

Actually I wanted to make a video about tacking and gybing, with the selftacker and twin tiller. Mounted one camera at the top of the mast and one at the Gennaker prod. Found that the mount on the mast top is not really ideal for getting good footage of details. Birdseye view is great for panoramic view. The waters here are looking terrible at the moment. This year first we have been suffering by the Corona virus, then it was the sea weed now the algae's. Whats next?? ??

Testing the new selftacker (ST) incl. twin tiller (TT). Well, I really like it. You can really focus on others, as it is promoted "keep your head out looking for windshifts, other boats etc". Another good day for sailing the WETA and testing the 360 degree camera

WETA Trimaran sailing, what a great feeling I have seen this kind of shooting first time on Youtube during an America's cup race and was amazed about the feeling of being present onboard. The footage above was made on a insta360 oneX camera. I have bought the camera just before the new model came out (unfortunately?). This camera is not waterproof, so you need to use it in a protection case. I personally use the dive case. The new version does not need additional case and this for sure would be an advantage. I have tested the camera on two different setups and have produced special fittings for this. I can now fix the camera on top of the mast (without the case) and it would be even possible to run a cable up inside the mast to charge the battery during the shooting. The battery now lasts for about 90 minutes in the hot season. Cold season only about 1 hour or less. My second position is a mount at the stern. This one I made myself from carbon. In above movie I using an extension on it, so the camera is fixed one meter higher then I would have it during heavy weather or races. Anybody interested to see the setup, just contact me. The stitching and preparation of the movie can be done in the offered apps from Insta 360. However, its a bit of limits. More professional editing suggested to do in Adobe Premier or Davinci Resolve. Well, I was not really aware about this when I bought the camera, but be prepared, you collect huge amount of data. This results that you need a good computer system which can handle the software and the datas. The tracking information is collected be the GPS smart remote controller. The output of this information is not possible in the free capture 360 degree, where you touch the screen and move around as you want (use link below). Hope this info helps so far.
