It's been so nice seeing our ideas of the new interior coming to life, we finally have all the big parts of the construction in and soon we can start focusing on making it look nice. So we will keep on keeping on, time is pushing, on May 1st we will throw of our lines again with a group of students heading to the north so we have great motivation and :) In October 2024 we started ripping out our forward interior ( saving as much of the original teak as possible) to redo a lot of the structure and also the layout of the forward part of our sail training ship. The forward part has always been the ''crew'' accommodation. So it's where Sander, I and our boys live and the crew that we take on voyages. Last winter we redid a lot of the structure in the saloon, now it's time for the bow! Guppy is a Scorpio 72 on which we have done some major modifications. She has been our permanent home for more than 4 years and the temporary home of almost 90 international kids and teens while sailing the oceans. We know she can take a beating but we are always aiming to make her stronger and keep her as well-maintained and safe as possible.

3 months of sailing onboard Guppy with 10 teenagers! In the summer of 2024, we sailed from the Netherlands to Scotland, Shetland Islands, Faroer & Norway. What an incredibly amazing and beautiful journey this was. We laughed, we cried, we battled, we hiked, swam, bashed through waves and I would do it all over again without hesitation! Once again I realised what an amazing place a ship is, to live, to learn, to explore. Sailing a ship together creates strong bonds, teamwork, communication, discipline and a tremendous amount of respect for nature. Already can't wait for next season to start! As many of you sailors and boaters know Thru-hulls are one of those things that make life so much better yet are always an area of concern. There is no question that it's nicer to have your sink actually drain and suck water up for your watermaker from the inside instead of hauling buckets and having hoses hanging overboard. But what kind of Thru-Hull do you choose? why? and how do you know they won't just break off and create a massive water fountain inside your boat? Our 3 year old sailing alone on MiniCat Guppy - During the voyages we do with teenagers and kids there is always a big Minicat onboard ( Minicat 420) to enjoy lots of fun sailing while anchored in exotic places. Here we are at a Minicat meeting in Italy, Lake Como and our son decided to claim a Minicat Guppy and insisted on sailing it alone! Trip 2 of our Atlantic Roundtrip 2021/2022 sailing through the Caribbean visiting St.Martin - Martinique - St.Vincent & the Grenadines - Martinique ( again) - Ile des Saints and back to St.Maarten.
