Over the years, I've watched hundreds of people step on a yacht for the first time. The nervous energy. The questions. The "I don't know if I can do this" moment. And then something shifts. This series is about those moments. The real reactions. The faces. The "oh, I actually love this" realizations. Over 600+ people have sailed with us, will you be next?
Blaze from Switzerland, planner for a pharmaceutical company, is an experienced sailor and this is his tip for new commers :)
Meet Den from Barcelona. He used to navigate container ships. Now he sails for fun. And after completing our sailing course, he's got his sailing license and captains yachts with his friends. He also joins us on flotillas now — not as a student, but as a skipper bringing his own crew. That's what happens when you actually learn to sail properly. You go from "I'd love to try that one day" to "I'm taking my friends to Croatia next month." Our April sailing school is sold out, but if you want to join the waitlist or get notified about future courses, DM us or link in bio ;)
2026 trips are open. Sicily, Croatia, BVI, Canaries, and more. DM me or link in bio 👆 "What even is sailing, do you just watch the sea all day?" No. Our sailing weeks are: wake up in a new bay, jump off the side for a morning swim, sail to the next island, anchor somewhere tourists can't drive to, explore a 1,000-year-old medieval town in the afternoon, have sundowners on deck watching the sunset, cook dinner together, repeat. It's paddleboarding in crystal water. Hiking up to a fortress. Walking narrow cobblestone streets. Finding a local spot for lunch. Night swimming under the stars. Meeting people from 8 different countries who are all doing the exact same thing you are. You're not "watching the sea." You're living on it and exploring from it. And honestly? That's why people come back every year.

Where did you get all your money for this trip?
– Why are our sailing trips expensive?(or not?) – What is it really like to live on a yacht with people you don’t know? – What’s the real point of sailing, why not just book a hotel? – Why isn’t food included in the price? – Do I need sailing skills to join? I’ve been sailing for 8 years now. 700+ people have joined our trips. If you’ve ever wondered what’s really behind Elmár Sailing, this interview will give you clarity.
For Niamh, Tour Guide from Ireland, this trip meant one thing: switching off and finally relaxing 🌊 If you’re ready to switch off too, join us on an upcoming sailing trip🤭
His biggest fear? What if he came alone and didn’t connect with anyone for a whole week on a yacht? But once he stepped on board, he realised something most people who choose sailing have the same mindset, the same energy, the same curiosity about life. Very quickly it stopped feeling like strangers. It became teamwork, shared tasks, shared jokes… a small little family for the week. This is the magic of sailing you don’t come alone, you just arrive alone :)
Sergy from Sweden came as crew. Now he sails with confidence, part of our skipper community. This is why we love teaching. You never know which trip will change someone’s direction ⛵️
Rafaela, full-time photographer & content creator, shared how freeing it felt to live on the ocean, sleep in cozy cabins, and bond with strangers who quickly felt like home.
