In this second episode of On the Edge with Ekkono, our Head of Business Development, Linn Sidahl, talk about why data won't be the new oil, and why insights matter more. Learn the true business potential in IoT by using edge machine learning to make physical products smart - i.e. cognitive, predictive and context-aware.
To be 'Creative Company of the year in Varberg', there are a number of criteria to fill. For example, in an innovative and creative way contribute to the municipality's development and make an impression within and outside the municipal boundaries. This year's Creative Company tick off all the criteria in an exceptional way. With customers such as Bombardier, Husqvarna, Siemens and Sandvik, this year's creative company is involved in developing the business community and spreading smartness from Varberg to the whole world. If you can get a robotic lawnmower to be smart, and consider Internet of Things to be a simple thing, then you really are this year's Creative Company in Varberg. This year's creative company is Ekkono Solutions!
The term "Internet of Things" was coined in 1999 by the British technology pioneer Kevin Ashton to describe a system where the Internet is connected to the physical world via ubiquitous sensors. These sensors nowadays equip all connected products and companies in all industries work on applying - and advancing it, from industrial to consumer products. Today's connected products need to be smarter in order to reach their full potential. They also need to act more sustainable to be accommodated within the boundaries of the planet. To do this we use Machine Learning. And not just any ML, but Edge Machine Learning, where we process data locally, onboard the device. The word Ekkono means 'cognition' and that is what we do, we give things a cognitive mind by making them self-learn the normal condition, understand the surrounding environment it operates in, and detect or even predict when the conditions change. Watch this very first "On The Edge With Ekkono: Why Machine Learning Needs Edge" and learn the true benefits of using Edge Machine Learning.
2021... and probably more expectations on a new year than ever before in modern time. Mankind has a lot to achieve and new research and technology will continue to trail blaze time ahead. 2020 was not what anyone expected. However, when looking back at the year, we see a better year than we at Ekkono expected. New and exciting customers and collaborations, two new SDK releases, a number of honorable awards, etc. When all physical meeting spaces, such as trade shows and other events, disappeared in March, we launched our virtual way of sharing our expertise. We invited you to #openfika - a short open, live, online fika* session, on hot, contemporary and relevant topics. Up to this date, we've hosted 14 #openfikas on mixed topics related to what we do. How about "How to make money on Smart IoT" or "Smart & Sustainable IoT"? Or our Tech Editions where we guided you in the Ekkono Lab, and the live coding session, teaching a computer "Hello World" by using our SDK, in 10 minutes. #openfika served us well in 2020, but this is our very last virtual fika. Watch our CEO, Jon Lindén, and our Head of Business Development, Linn Sidahl wrap up 2020 and tell you a little of what to come from Ekkono in 2021.
Oh Deer! What's the fuzz about Santa's Connected Ekkono Sleigh in Varberg, Sweden? What are we doing and why?
Santa is busier than ever this Christmas of 2020, delivering all gifts on a safe distance. Using Ekkono's embedded Edge ML software to predict how many time Santa and his reindeer will take off, we can estimate if he will make it in time or not. Just enough sensor data (produced from the sound of honking cars) will able us to predict hos many take-offs Santa will make in a day, in a week, and until Christmas.
Do you see product improvements or quality issues in your business that needs to be addressed? Are you curious about Edge Machine Learning and wonder if it applies to your products?
