Expect evening talks on decompression theory, the latest research, and stories from other diving destinations—plenty to get stuck into between the dives. 🤿💬 🧑🎓Certification Requirements: CCR: MOD 1 (MOD 2 Recommended) OC: TDI Decompression Procedures or equivalent (TDI Trimix or equivalent recommended) 📅 16–25 October 2028 📅 25 October–3 November 2028 If Truk has been on your list, come join Mark and #teamdd where it all began. 🌐 Visit www.dirtydozenexpeditions.com to learn more and book your spot now.
Rebreathers are advanced life-support systems. When something goes wrong, the difference between recognizing the problem and missing it can be life or death. In this presentation, a real-life rebreather fatality is examined step by step by someone who was there—and who knew the diver personally. What happened? What decisions and circumstances led to the accident? Were there warning signs? And, most importantly, what can other rebreather divers learn from it? The presentation breaks down the chain of events leading to the fatality and explores the human factors, equipment considerations and decision-making that can turn seemingly small mistakes into catastrophic consequences. This isn’t about assigning blame. It’s about learning from a tragedy so that other divers don’t repeat the same mistakes. Whether you dive CCR, SCR, open circuit technical, or are considering moving to a rebreather, there are lessons here worth taking seriously. What’s going to kill you—and what can you do to prevent it? Presented during a Dirty Dozen Expeditions technical diving expedition. in Truk Lagoon April 2026.
