The all-new Columbia Carbon 32 can be delivered ready to sail for just $160,000 - and you can ship it back from Hawaii to the US West Coast for less than $5,000!
The Columbia Carbon 32 sailing upwind and downwind off Long Beach, Southern California. Wind speed between 6-10 knots, the 4,000 lb boat is doing about 7 knots upwind and surfing downwind around 8-10 knots.
The 4,000 lb Columbia C-32 can be hauled behind the family car and launched with a 2-ton club lift - far less expensive than using a slipway or hoist. Return deliveries from long coastal or ocean races can be by road or ship, saving both money and wear and tear on boat and crew. "Our quarter berths have a hard lee board, instead of a lee cloth, so you can sleep on the high side of the boat without falling out of your bunk."

"We're down below on the new Columbia 32 an all carbon boat that we're starting to produce now. This is the 1st one and we're just finishing final assembly. What you can see here down below is some of the accommodations of the boat. It's quick large for this type of boat - a light weight high performance boat. We have berths for four a larger salon area. The boat has an inboard diesel with a retractable fixed blade prop. We have a head compartment forward, sail handling area just aft of the head compartment and under the foredeck hatch. We have cooler storage port and starboard, and a small galley area. Pretty much everything you need for short offshore, or longer offshore. The concept of the boat was point-to-point racing offshore with limited crew - two to four guys!"

"The Columbia Carbon 32 is a lifting keel boat so that allows us to trailer the boat home from long races - you don't have to sail it! The keel lifts vertically (through the window on the cabin roof) with a winch that drops into place on the boat so you don't have to sail with the lifting mechanism in place which saves weight."

"We're in the cockpit of the Columbia Carbon 32. This boat has a fractional rig with Asymetrical spinnakers. This particular boat, boat #1, has a retractable carbon bowsprit. All the boats after this will have a fixed carbon bowsprit. The boat carries small headsails and big mains. The jibs are 108%, not a large headsail. The boat will have a full 108% jib and then a very flat 105% jib."

"This is the Yanmar 2YM15 Diesel inboard option for the boat. It's hooked into a retractable fixed 3 blade prop. The engine is about 14 hp and the boat should do about 7.0 - 7.5 knots under power."

"One of the neat features of the Columbia Carbon 32 that we've incorporated into the design is the Coleman catering style coolers. We've used the lids from these coolers on the integrated built in ice boxes on the boat. Also we have storage areas for these coolers to fit in the boat so you're not looking for places to store your provisions. It also allows you to take the coolers home, pack your lunch at home and then load your cooler onboard and put it in its place."

"Columbia Yachts has developed a lifting drive system for the Columbia Carbon 32. The system features a 3-blade fixed prop connected to a Yanma diesel inboard engine. The drive system retracts completely into the hull and is completely water tight and isolated from the interior of the boat. The advantage of this system is that it reduces drag making the boat faster."
