In this video I begin the long journey north from Grenada to Charleston, South Carolina. For the first leg, I'm sailing solo from St. Gerorge's to Deshaies, Guadeloupe, then to Sint Maarten, and finally St. Thomas in the USVI's. With a freshly cleaned hull, I experience some fast sailing with the wind on the beam, a friendly pod of dolphins, an full on conversation with a sperm whale, a seafood dinner with some good friends, and a few issues/repairs. Lots to come in the next few videos surrounded by good people and capable crew. God is good. Cheers y'all

Not only am I fortunate enough to have amazing patrons supporting this journey of sailing around the world, but I'm also blessed to be able to share the boat with them. Finally we have a visitor! Nestled in our mooring field in Prickly Bay, Grenada, two strangers who met through social media, become room mates. Today we will be working on a few small boat projects, and just living the good life relaxing. Cheers! SUPPORT HERE: patreon.com/ChasingGrace This is the best way to help me out with the journey! In this video we take through a week of Boat Life in Grenada. We're working on a few repairs aboard our 30 year old 51ft sailboat, Grace, when a special guest arrives. With an update on my injury, a late night fishing win, spearfishing expeditions, and a Carib fueled waterfall tour, this video is jam packed. We'll call it a mega vlog. Grenada has proven to be a convenient and welcoming place to live and work on the boat. The people are friendly and the beers are cheap. Sorry for the wait on this one, I hope y'all enjoy! The story picks up in Prickly Bay, Grenada, where we've just announced a seemingly never ending to do list for fixing up this 30 year old sailboat after her first Caribbean season. The projects are off to a rough start however. I begin the day attempting to replace the brushes for the broken windlass motor, but am forced to address a new issue, the anchor is dragging. We're moved into shallow water while I was away and will soon be on the rocks, so I decide to bring up the anchor by hand. Not my first rodeo with this, but this time, the wind and the swell are fighting me. I run back and forth to drive the boat and struggle to slowly bring up the change, hoping to reanchor and finally my struggle is noticed by some nearby sailors. I hurt my back in the process, a rein jury of an old disk issue. The injury would lead to a large setback in not only the project list, but the vlog as well. Blessings were upon us though! The boat is safe and I am recovering and more grateful than ever to be a part of such an amazing sailing community. Didn't do a great job of filming this one with all the chaos, but I hope y'all enjoy seeing what another tough day on the water looks like. Cheers! In this video we complete our first checkpoint in the circumnavigation by arriving in Grenada. After a number of mechanical issues and getting our butt kicked by hurricane Ernesto, it's time to leave Dominica and brave the 240 mile solo sail to St. George's, Grenada. It'll be 50 hours no sleep, no assistance, a draining task; but the good Lord has blessed us with one of the best weather windows I have ever sailed. Beautiful sunsets, sunrises, full moon both nights, and a calm sea that's seems to have eased up on us for the final leg. In the next video we'll talk all about our plans for Grenada and the diy boat projects that are to come! Thanks for watching and sorry for the wait everyone! I updated Patreon about this, but basically the sail took it out of me and I had to recover for a few days. Now I'm fed, rested, and I have the boat in a safe spot, so I am ready to go baby. Let's get daily again. SUPPORT HERE: patreon.com/ChasingGrace This is the best way to help me out with the journey! Solo sailing through the Caribbean in the height of hurricane season definitely wasn't on my bingo card, but we've found ourselves here and must roll with the punches. After a broken windlass and a hectic schedule got the better of me, I stupidly decided to stay on the "comfort" of a mooring ball here in Portsmouth, Dominica to brave the storm, that was a terrible mistake. I should've sailed south days before the storm arrived. Mooring lines snapped, boats were lost. I could've lost my boat. I am very lucky. I hope that 2 meter swell in the anchorage is something I never experience again. Consider the healthy fear of storms well acquired now.

In today's episode we are preparing for a 200 mile offshore passage from Portsmouth, Dominica to Grenada. When I fire up the engine I notice a severe diesel leak and our plans change. Trying to find replacements or reliable help while traveling the caribbean can be tough at times, but today we're lucky. Not only do we find a body shop to help us weld the fuel line, but we find the local mechanic everyone has been telling me about who just might be able to help us fix the broken anchor windlass. Tough times never last, only tough people last. SUPPORT HERE: patreon.com/ChasingGrace This is the best way to help me out with the journey! In today's video we are embarking on a tour aboard the sailing catamaran "Passion" with Whale Whisperer Expeditions. We leave from the dock of Portsmouth, Dominica in search for the native sperm whale population. Utilizing underwater audio equipment, the crew is able to intercept the whales' communication and what follows is one of the most magical experiences of my life. These whales are peaceful and majestic creatures. Their family units, abilities, and lifestyles are profound. I highly recommend this tour if you ever make you way to the nature island of Dominica. Guess I can cross diving with whales off the bucket list. Cheers and thanks for watching! SUPPORT HERE: patreon.com/ChasingGrace This is the best way to help me out with the journey! After a semi emergency sail to Dominica, our visit begins with customs formalities but quickly transitions into a street food review, lessons from true fisherman, and a late night date with an upset stingray. I was immediately in love with Portsmouth, Dominica. The convenience/protection for sailors, the nature, the food, the PEOPLE. This place is unique and special. The following days will surely bring lots of wildlife, color, rum, and good vibes. Cheers to the patrons and all of you watching! Thank you. PS. new intro style? what do we think? Our time in Dominica continues to wow me. Today we will be taking our Paddle North paddle board through the Indian River. It flows to the Caribbean Sea between the town of Portsmouth and the village of Glanvillia. The Indian is the widest river in Dominica. Indian River boat rides are one of the most popular tourist attractions of Dominica, but I've arranged to go alone. Some of the scenes of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest were filmed on the banks of the river and the dramatic scenes make it obvious to why. We encounter fish, birds, crabs, and even a quiet bar nestled in the jungle. Cheers and thanks for watching everyone! If you're interested in the paddle board I'm using, mine was gifted to me by Paddle North, and I can honestly say that they're amazing people and it's a great product. In this episode we're attempting to weigh anchor in Basse Terre, Guadeloupe after our windlass motor has broken. A diy anchor windlass is created. Once free we'll continue our journey South towards Portsmouth, Dominica for the safety of a mooring ball, cheap produce, and tuna galore. I can feel the momentum shifting. Thanks for watching y'all! Our story picks up on the western coast of Guadeloupe, sailing solo through the lesser Antilles in the height of hurricane season. How the heck did we get here? As we weigh anchor to sail South towards Portsmouth, Dominica, we struggle to lift the anchor home as we're stuck in 50+ feet of water, with too much weight on the anchor windlass. I make mistakes and continue trying with the windlass instead of immediately rigging a hand winch to assist in the lift. The windlass breaks. I spend all day on a wild goose chase trying to find why the motor has stopped, hoping it's a fuse or a bad connection, or a bad solenoid/relay. I'm sadly wrong. I've damaged my electric windlass motor and can't even detach it to go further. A new system for lifting the anchor is thought up and I work late into the night as I plan a semi emergency sail to Dominica tomorrow. Some days living on a sailboat are amazing. Every day something breaks. Some times the day sucks because something breaks. The End. SUPPORT HERE: patreon.com/ChasingGrace This is the best way to help me out with the journey! Years ago when I dreamt of sailing around the world, I dreamt of the maintenance to. That may sound weird but I had this ideal day of waking up and polishing the stainless in the sun, then calling it a day early (whenever I wanted) to go fishing and drink a few cold ones. I'm delighted to report that I am in fact living that dream. Our time in Guadeloupe is coming to an end and it's almost time to sail to Dominica! As our journey south towards the protected harbors of Grenada continues, we work our way down the western coast of Guadeloupe. Today we are leaving the sailboat securely on anchor to hike through the mountains of Basse Terre and visit a local gem, Parc de la Souce. We'll be swimming in one of Guadeloupe's many waterfalls, or as the French call them, chutes. Thanks for watching everyone!
