EN Our epic journey continues, and our course is now taking us further west after rounding Cabo de Gata. Gibraltar is now in our sights, but the forecast is giving another westerly front heading across from Morocco. Headwinds of up to 30-35 knots are expected, accompanied by a good 8-metre swell. We're putting the safety of our crew and our boat first, by choosing to make a stopover in Almerimar. A well-deserved break that will allow the crew to rest and revictual the boat. EN Calpe Bay offered us perfect upwind conditions with an apparent wind of 15 knots propelling the boat between 7 and 9 knots at 40° to the apparent...! Our super-G slalom skills came into their own south of Alicante for avoiding the Spanish fishing boats. But the passage south of the Iberian Peninsula looks like being a sporty one with a very active south-westerly front, which means a big swell and headwinds. The OC lowers her daggerboards and switches to sport mode.
