Dirty fuel and sludge buildup can be a nightmare at sea, but with a little ingenuity (and a few hours of work), their tank is now spotless, the fuel is clean, and the engine is ready for the journey ahead. In this episode, we show you how we built and used a simple but effective diesel fuel polishing setup onboard. From filtering out the gunk to restoring fuel clarity, we walk through the whole process step by step. We're still sailing with friends on s/y Willow, another trusty Boreal, and making our way to lay up Bushpoint for the winter. In this episode, we leave the charming seaside town of Trosa and begin the transition from saltwater to the sweet waters of Lake Mälaren, where our boat will spend the winter. This episode is full of sailing in different condition, one day it's relaxed sailing-so relaxed we even clean underway! And we pool out the genoa for some more speed. As we approach the Södertälje Canal, we share the water with massive container ships and we send up the drone for some fine shots. In the canal we pass through locks, and under bridges and of course we send up the drone for better view of the canal and of the lock which is the biggest in the Nordic countries. Later on Lake Mälaren, we get wind gusting to 36 knots-perfect for some good sailing! At one point, we wait for a bridge to open (Hjulstabron), and we get lucky to have a container ship come through just as we're allowed to pass. ? We're back on the water for another Autumn sailing adventure in Sweden, and this one starts like a postcard - sunshine, t-shirts, and a gentle breeze perfect for flying our Furlstrom sail. We're cruising through the Stockholm archipelago alongside our Aussie friends aboard Willow - two Boréal expedition sailboats gliding together through the calm Baltic Sea. But it doesn't stay calm for long. The wind shifts, the temperature drops, and we swap t-shirts for foul weather gear. We anchor for the night in shallow waters, with just 2 meters under the keel - and the next morning, we squeeze out with only 1.3 meters of depth. On our way into Trosa, a charming seaside town south of Stockholm, we hit another 1.3-meter patch in the narrow, shallow entrance channel. In this final episode of our incredible motorcycle journey through Northern Norway and Sweden, we begin in Bodø and head south, closing the loop on an unforgettable adventure. We visit the, Saltstraumen, the world's strongest tidal current and send the drone up for some great aerial views of this natural phenomenon. From a distance, we spot the Svartisen glacier (which is actually two glaciers) before crossing the Arctic Circle one last time - this time by ferry. As we return to Sweden we wild camp near a Sámi seasonal settlement, visit the beautiful Trappstegsforsen and send up the drone again, and continue along the unforgettable Vildmarksvägen/The Wilderness Road, stop at historic Fatmomakke and get an areal shot with the drone, and continue to the windswept Stekenjokk Plateau which is partly closed in the winter due to lots, lots of snow. After this we take some days in the cabin for Jeanette to get better from her stomach bug and then finally we head home and make a summary of all the kilometers and days spend on the road! In this episode, we take on Sweden's highest peak climbing Mount Kebnekaise. It turned out to be one of the toughest hikes we've done so far. The trail took us over steep rocky slopes, across Björlings Glacier with crampons strapped on, and then up a via ferrata section - which, by the way, Jeanette thought was the best part. After more than 11 hours on the mountain, we finally reached the summit at 2,097 meters, or 6,879 feet. This climb was one of the adventures we'd planned on our motorcycle journey up to North Cape - the northernmost point of Europe. Let's just say? this day was intense. ? We're riding our motorcycle all the way to North Cape, the northernmost point of mainland Europe. Along the way, we'll take a detour to climb Kebnekaise, Sweden's tallest mountain-fingers crossed it's doable. In this third episode, we begin in Jokkmokk, just above the Arctic Circle, battling the rain. From there, we make our way to Nikkaluokta mountain lodge (67.5° N), where we spend the night in a cabin. The following morning, we set off on our hiking, meeting some Norwegians along the way, before reaching a point from where we'll catch a boat across a lake Ladtjojaure. We're heading to North Cape on our motorcycle, the northernmost point of mainland Europe. Along the way, we'll be tackling Kebnekaise, Sweden's highest peak. In this second episode, we'll guide you through Sweden's interior, starting in Härjedalen, making a stop in Vilhelmina, where we'll spend the night in the church village. The following day, we'll visit Storforsen, the largest rapid in the Nordic countries, then cross the Arctic Circle before we stop in Jokkmokk for the night. Taking a break from sailing and jumping on our motorcycle and head up to the very north of Europe, to North Cape, the northernmost point of the European mainland. In this first leg we leave Stockholm and ride up to our first stop Hälsingland, which is, if you look at the map, in the middle of Sweden. This time we experience one of those magic nights in the archipelago, it has all the components of warm rocks, friends, BBQ, live music and even a marriage proposal. We had no idea that the daughter would be proposed to, and we're so grateful we were there to witness it. It was such an emotional moment. We are also boat training our hairy grandchild to find out if a daschhund can become a boat dog. She walks around like she owns the ship or at least like she's the captain so guess it is all right. In this episode our granddog Nora (aka hairy grandchild) and her parents come and sail with us. We are in for a surprise, when we hardly recognize the son, who has had a hair transplant. We have a great sail up to island Rödlöga and after this sail the son and daughter-in-law decided they need an adventure! So, they went ahead and bought a sailboat and plan to sail to the Mediterranean! Nora seems to adapt very well to life at sea, so she's coming too.
