The 24th Benetti Yachtmaster involved over 300 guests from all over the world, a great success with the participation of captains, owner representatives, surveyors, stewardesses and industry professionals. Today, modern owners experience the purchase of a yacht as the maximum expression of their lifestyle. The new concept of lifestyle on board involves renewed purpose and layout for the spaces, increasingly informal and convivial, capable of blending into the surrounding nature. The deck extends over the water and the landscape integrates the furnishings through the large windows of the new Voyager yachts by Benetti. The growth of the yacht market is also evidence of this, perfect for those seeking adventure, and not just the most exclusive places. If the yacht is the object through which a lifestyle is expressed, certainly the captain and his crew are the human component that strongly influences the owners' on-board experience. It is from these considerations that the program for the 2024 edition of the Benetti Yachtmaster was born, introduced by the CEO of Azimut|Benetti Group Marco Valle, who welcomed the guests and emphasized the crucial role of the captains and their skills in building the yachts of the future. Benetti M/Y “Calex” is a bespoke 67-metre yacht with a steel hull and an aluminium superstructure. The sleek exterior styling is by Cassetta Yacht Designers, while the contemporary interiors, featuring precious marble and fine wood, are designed by the Shipyard’s Style Department. The master cabin is on a deck designed around the owner. Facing forward and looking out onto an exterior space with a lounge area and fireplace, it cannot be seen from the upper decks because of a clever interplay of perspectives and volumes that ensures complete privacy. Bespoke in every detail, the yacht has indoor and outdoor spaces that ensure absolute privacy and comfort and cater to the owner’s passion for exercise and well-being. Cassetta Yacht Designers developed the streamlined, well-proportioned exterior contours, while the interiors designed by the Benetti Style Department feature alternating light and dark colour shades, with the extensive use of maple and American walnut, ivory-coloured leathers, and white statuary and crema marfil marble. The fabrics used for the decorative cushions are by Loro Piana Interiors. The yacht extends across five enclosed decks and stands out for her perfectly balanced volumes. The interiors were fitted out using the ‘box in box’ method and meet the highest construction standards, testifying yet again to the shipyard’s exceptional craftsmanship, with new technology used on “Calex” to minimise noise transmission and ensure silent navigation at a speed of 12 knots. The stand-out feature of this 67-metre yacht is the Upper Deck, which has a surface area of 160 square metres devoted entirely to the owner’s personal spaces. A huge Master Cabin, containing a spacious suite, an elegant double bathroom, a private office and a walk-in wardrobe, extends from midships onto the foredeck outside and offers a 180-degree view, with two curved automatic sliding doors opening out onto an exclusive lounge area furnished with chaises longues, armchairs, a table and an original gas fireplace. While wide open, it is a very private space, much of which cannot be seen from the upper decks as a result of the carefully planned volumes and depths. The foredeck can also be used as a touch and go helicopter pad, giving the owner the greatest possible freedom when coming on board. On the same deck, an open area in the stern, with a dining table and a relaxation area furnished with armchairs and other seating, is complemented by an interior lounge with a TV cabinet. The stern area on the Main Deck hosts guests in a spacious open-air lounge, while inside we find the main lounge, with a table seating 12, sofas and armchairs, followed by the galley. The owner also wanted two large VIP cabinson this deck, one on each side of the yacht, with two garages of different sizes in the bow for the main tender and various water toys. The four guest cabins, two doubles and two with twin beds (convertible), are midships on the Lower Deck and completely separated from the accommodation in the bow for the crew of 16, which at the owner’s request is decorated with materials and furnishings similar to those used in the guest area. Separate guest and crew flows and the use of dumb waiters ensure maximum privacy and excellent service on board, connecting these areas with the galley on the Main Deck and the upper decks. Also on the Lower Deck of M/Y “Calex”, amidships, is the large engine room, Benetti’s first on a full custom yacht this size to fully comply with TIER III regulations because it is fitted with a scrubbing system for the exhaust gases from both the propulsion and generating systems. In the bow, the spacious swim platform and the beach club are connected to the Main Deck by two fixed stairways. A gullwing door opens onto the swim platform and lets light flood into the interiors of the beach club, where a long swing-down hatch on the starboard side provides easier access to the water and even more light. The Bridge Deck, which has an outdoor space containing a lounge area furnished with bar, sofas, TV cabinet and barbecue and is served by a pantry, revolves around the captain and the wheelhouse. The large captain’s cabin is separated from the officer and crew quarters to be close to the ship office and the futuristic helm station, which features a touchscreen console designed by Telemar. THREE DAYS OF CELEBRATION AT THE VIAREGGIO AND LIVORNO SHIPYARDS WITH OWNERS, EMPLOYEES AND OFFICIALS One hundred and fifty years of values, handed down from father to son, with a passion for excellence, design and technological innovation. To celebrate this extraordinary milestone, on June the 16th in Viareggio, where the shipyard's history began, an emotional Paolo Vitelli, founder of the Azimut|Benetti Group, his daughter Giovanna Vitelli, Chair, and CEO Marco Valle, together with company employees welcomed the local authorities to witness the deep bond with the territory. It was a moment to recall the history of two families who, at different times, have been able to share values and passion, but it was also an opportunity to embrace, thank and pay homage to their long-standing collaborators. Then, on June the 17th, the protagonists of the event were the ship-owners, who were invited to attend a spectacular evening at the Livorno Shipyard, which, thanks to its majestic 250,000 square meters area, today represents the largest shipyard in the Mediterranean. Inside one of the warehouses, next to a yacht under construction, Belgian architect and set designer Charles Kaisin recalled the history of Benetti in an extraordinarily creative way and, with more than 50 waiters/actors, entertained the guests with touches of brilliance: dishes served under cloches in the shape of ancient vessels, 'sound' shells from which to hear sounds and voices of a yacht under construction, a 'flying' pianist and soprano, and hundreds of swaying lights. Outside, the marina hosted some of Benetti’s most iconic yachts, creating a luminous landscape setting: the "Odissey III", a 33-metre yacht from the Mediterraneo series, dated 1967; "Stella Fiera", the first unit of the Classic 115' series; El Caran that once belonged to David Bowie, and the very latest of the B.Now and Oasis Deck™ series. Finally, on Sunday June the18th, the Livorno shipyard welcomed employees, their families, and suppliers, offering fun activities, such as visits to the lighthouse and the fleet of boats, sporting activities, such as sailing trials organized by the Antignano Sailing Club, and cultural activities, such as visits to the shipyard museum and the 'Scenari di Cantiere' (Shipyard Scenarios), a show held by the city's Goldoni Theatre. One hundred and fifty years of values, handed down from father to son, with a passion for excellence, design and technological innovation. It was the year 1873 when Lorenzo Benetti founded the Benetti shipyard in Viareggio. Benetti sailing vessels, such as the legendary Barcobestia, gain global acclaim for their unrivalled speed and seaworthiness. Benetti laid the foundations for its future with daring nautical challenges such as the construction in 1921 of the 51M Brigantino San Giorgio, the largest ship to proudly sail the waves of the Mediterranean at the time. In 1962 Lorenzo Benetti shared his grandfather's visionary spirit, presenting the revolutionary Delfino at the first Genoa boat show. The modern luxury yacht was born and Benetti was its creator. Four years later the Gabbiano 22M, took the world by storm, captivating the attention of prominent personalities such as Prince Rainer and Grace Kelly and in 1967, the launch of the Mediterraneo marked another triumph and defined what would become the iconic Benetti style for years to come. Benetti navettes became objects of desire for celebrities around the globe, including the legendary David Bowie who purchased one in 1977 and named it El Caran. In 1979 Benetti launched the 86M Nabila, the most famous yacht in the world. Commissioned by Saudi businessman Adnan Khashoggi, it was the first and largest gigayacht ever built. It starred in many scenes of the James Bond film "Never Say Never Again" while the parties organised aboard became the stuff of legends. It even inspired the Queen song "Kashoggi's Ship", in which Freddie Mercury shared tales of the band's adventures on board. In 1985 Paolo Vitelli, the founder of Azimut Yachts, acquired Benetti with a very clear vision of becoming a leading player in the yachting world. The Azimut | Benetti Group was born, beginning a new and exciting era. It was the year 1995 when Benetti introduced the Golden Bay series, iconic 50M yachts that swiftly gained worldwide acclaim and consolidated Benetti's status as a mega-yacht powerhouse. Three years later, the Classic 35M debuted at the Genoa boat show where it was referred as the Stella Fiera. In 2000 Benetti launched the 7-deck Reverie 70M, the second largest megayacht ever built at the time. In 2003 the Azimut | Benetti Group acquired the historic Orlando Shipyard in Livorno, becoming one of the world's largest shipyards for the construction of giga-yachts over 80 metres. Just three years later, Benetti achieved another historic feat: the launch of M/Y Ambrosia III 65M, the first yacht in the world with diesel-electric propulsion combined with Azipod, marking the beginning of the sustainable yacht philosophy. In 2016, Benetti continued to make waves around the world with the construction of M/Y Lionheart 90m, its largest yacht ever built. 2019 was an epic moment for Benetti, with three gigayachts launched in just 100 days: Luminosity, IJE and Lana. With a length of over 107M each, they were – and still are – the three largest motoryachts ever built by Benetti. In 2020 Benetti launched another revolutionary new concept in yacht design, this one in partnership with RWD: the Oasis Deck. A programme packed with meetings, in-depth discussions, and opportunities for networking sparked an interesting debate on innovative solutions to sustainability issues.
