Antigua Sailing Week 2026 delivered a regatta defined by variety, resilience, and tight contests, as sailing crews navigated everything from Atlantic swell to light conditions over four days of competition around the island. This year’s reimagined fleet format brought together sailors from across the globe, blending fun and competitive racing with rally cruising. President of Antigua Sailing Week Alison Sly-Adams said the goal of the week was simple – capitalize on the island’s natural beauty in signature point-to-point courses bookended with lively shoreside events. The 2027 Antigua Sailing Week will run from 21- 25 April 2027. For all the news, results, photos, videos, enquiries, and information, go to: sailingweek.com
Day 3 sailing from Little Jumby Bay to Ffryes Beach featured tricky technical conditions with clashing wind directions, briefly stalling all boats in place before trades returned to push the fleet to the Riddim & Tides festival. Anjo Experience and Heineken truly delivered the ultimate beach bash at Ffryes during Riddim & Tides, turning the west coast sands into a non-stop party paradise. Incredible local bands had everyone grooving well into the night under the stars, smiles plastered on every face in that stunning beach setting. An unforgettable evening blending ASW vibes with pure Antiguan energy. Video: Roddy Acqua
Day 2 of Antigua Sailing Week 2026: Nonsuch Bay to Little Jumby Bay rocked with north swell, Atlantic breezes (8-15 knots), and tight racing—Kali topped CSA 1 with spinnaker mastery, Contigo rode currents to win CSA 2 over Vildiur. Rally fleets crushed the Treasure Hunt (turtles spotted, English Harbour Rum hats grabbed), Impala stole the beach relay at The Hut (lime-spoon, swims, dinghy dashes), then DJ York + Heineken sunset party lit up the vibes. Big thanks to Antigua Barbuda Ministry of Tourism, Heineken (official beer), Sea Hawk Paints, Harpers, APUA iNet, National Parks Antigua, and Calvin Air—Race, Chase, Celebrate rolls to Ffryes tomorrow!
Antigua Sailing Week 2026 kicked off with an idyllic Day 1, sending sailors on a light upwind beat from English Harbour's Windward Bay toward Green Island. Light northeasterly trades and gentle swells set the stage for the event's fresh four-day island circumnavigation format. ## Race Highlights Racers tackled a 9.6-mile course with swirling winds, delivering world-class tacking duels and camaraderie. Cruisers in the point-to-point rally savored steady breezes and sunny skies at their own pace. Everyone converged for a barefoot beach rendezvous, complete with swimming, sunset views, and beach barbecues. ## Green Island Vibes This unspoiled paradise offered pristine beaches, excellent snorkeling, and relaxed anchoring in safe moorings like Green Island South and Willikies. Local support from Falmouth Ocean Club and Ship2Shore Water Taxi ensured smooth arrivals. As the sun dipped, crews toasted the fun ahead—Day 2 heads to Maiden Island/Little Jumby.
In 2025, Antigua Sailing Week was attended by two top end offshore racing yachts from very different times. Launched in 1974, the 79 foot Kialoa 3 was all conquering on the world stage for many years. Today Pyewacket 70, a modified Volvo 70, is one of the fastest 70 footers around. In this film we compare these two legends from different times. In an ironic twist, Ben Mitchell who currently races onboard Pyewacket, also used to race on Kialoa III , 50 years ago - including during the 1975 Sydney Hobart race where K3 set a record that stood for 21 years! We talk with Ben and with new K3 owner Lennart Davidson about the technical evolution in offshore racing yachts during the decades that separate them and about the custom courses provided by the ASW race committee to ensure great races for the big boat class this year. Antigua, April 28, 2025: Varied conditions tested teams at Antigua Sailing Week today across a range of wind strengths, with the big boats enjoying adrenaline-pumping speeds of 20 knots in the stronger gusts. In CSA Racing Class 2 Woody Cullen’s Swan 58 WaveWalker won both her races, including a victory in the second race by a scant 36 seconds over Don Terwilliger’s Beneteau First 47.7 Dauntless. Wayne Zittel X-Yachts XP50 DNR rounded out the podium in third. “We sail with a great mix of friends and family, as well as professional crew,” says Cullen’s wife Carolyn. “They’re amazing and the one thing that’s unique about them is they all coach. This was my first race taking the lead on jib trim – that’s thanks to the great crew and great coaching, with much of it from women.” Women form one third of the crew, including Carolyn and daughter Emma. In addition, Suzanne Leech, a double world champion sailor, is on board as navigator this week. “We have women from bow to stern,” says Carolyn. “I think that helps our crew work, communication and consistency. It’s really special. We work really hard to have safety first, fun and then win.” For full report go to https://sailingweek.com/tight-margins-define-racing-on-day-two-of-antigua-sailing-week-marina-resort-womens-race-day/
Catch-up on day 1 of racing from Antigua Sailing Week 2025. Antigua, April 27, 2025: The opening day of the main Antigua Sailing Week series served up glorious sailing conditions for nine classes racing in 12-16 knot tradewinds. A 40-mile course to Barbuda gave the biggest boats including, Pyewacket 70, the VO65s I Love Poland and Sisi, plus Adrian Lee’s HH66 catamaran Lee Overlay Partners III to stretch their legs, with the latter flying a hull off the start line. Competitors in CSA Racing Class 3 enjoyed super-close competition, with the top three boats separated by only 40 seconds on corrected time at the end of their first race. All three started close together, with double Olympic gold medallist Poul Høj Jensen’s Danish Blue closest to the pin end of the line, Sir Richard Matthews’ J/122 Team Oystercatcher, right on their windward quarter, and Steve Rigby’s El Ocaso just to windward.Competitors in CSA Racing Class 3 enjoyed super-close competition, with the top three boats separated by only 40 seconds on corrected time at the end of their first race. The Peters & May Round Antigua Race 2025 is the perfect way for any team to tune up for Antigua Sailing Week. Roy Disney’s Pyewacket 70 takes line honours after fierce battle with Lee Overlay Partners lll Two very different yachts proved to be almost perfectly matched for much of today’s challenging and memorable edition of this classic 50-mile course. Sailing with an all-star crew, Roy Disney’s turbocharged Volvo 70 Pyewacket took a narrow early lead along Antigua’s south-eastern coast. Nevertheless, it was not long before Adrian Lee’s high performance HH66 catamaran Lee Overlay Partners lll gained a slim advantage on the water. This duo then enjoyed a close tussle for more than half the race, including a fast reach across the north of the island, with both boats only a few hundred metres apart at speeds of 16-18 knots.
