Vlog #37 We sailed into Punta Perula and headed into townto check it out and stock up the veggie pile. They are totally rebuilding the Malecon. it was looking very beautiful. The town is small but very friendly. we got some fresh veggies and fresh pressed juice made. We went for a quick snorkel and I had to run out because I saw toooo mannnyyy sneeesnakes. they freak me out! Then we headed over to the islands and hung out on the beaches which we pretty much had all to ourselves. The water was amazingly clear and beautiful! Thanks for watching we'll catch yaaaa next time!! --------------------------------- Instagram- @Sailingdecorum --------------------------------- *WHO ARE WE?* •We are a Canadian couple, Travis and Jessica. We leave Yelapa, and set sail for tehuamixtle. Along the way the engine dies which made us a little nervous as there was no wind to get us going anywhere. We ended up backtracking a bit on our route. Finally Trav figured out what the problem was.... WE RAN OUT OF FUEL!! At least this time it wasn't our own stupidity.. the gas gauge was broken and no longer telling us the correct amount that we had. Luckily he got it going again without tooooo much of a hassle and we were on our way again. We saw sooo many turtles along the way. We couldn't believe how many were swimming right by us. Usually we just get dolphins but this was a nice change to the scenery! Clearly Trav loves them he spent all day watching and filming them. hahaha Once we arrived we were pleasantly surprised and how insanely clear the water was! It was so beautiful. There was no cell service in this town but we met a really nice american couple that invited us to their rental to use their wifi so we could check the weather for when we should leave! --------------------------------- Instagram- @Sailingdecorum --------------------------------- *WHO ARE WE?* •We are a Canadian couple, Travis and Jessica. Vlog #35 We sail from La Cruz in Banderas Bay to Yelapa. Its a beautiful little village that's only accesible by boat. We pulled in and we're greeted by a panga who led us to a mooring ball. His families restaurant there is Fanny's. The waves were too big there to take the dinghy in so the pangas rip you right up onto shore. We took a trek to the closer, smaller waterfall first, which was beautiful and had a tiny restaurant for drinks and snacks upon arrival. Travs decided to make the hike barefoot and stepped in one million horse poos along the way. The next day we got the panga to take us in again and this time we opted to hike to the farther waterfall. we are walked all the way through the village and crossed and few rivers. after about an hour we finally arrived. We thought we'd have this serene place all to ourselves but upon arrival there was a big group of skinny dippers who were mostly male, and by mostly i mean ALL. hahaha no worries though they were kind and courteous and we made small talk and then swam in the freezing cold waterfall water. Another amazing day in paradise! --------------------------------- Instagram- @Sailingdecorum --------------------------------- --------------------------------- *WHO ARE WE?* •We are a Canadian couple, Travis and Jessica. Vlog# 34 In La Cruz in Banderas Bay a fellow sailors boat came off the anchor and smashed into the rocks, breaking off his keel and demolishing his boat. This is such a tragic thing to happen, it was his life, and his home for many years. So Trav took some tools and headed over to help clean up and take things off the boat. Finally after waiting months and months our sail finally showed up! How exciting!! So we put it on straight away and took it out for a test ride!! --------------------------------- *WHO ARE WE?* •We are a Canadian couple, Travis and Jessica. Vlog #33 While in La Cruz de huanacaxtle we didnt to take a long ride in the dinghy to some uninhabited beaches. the surf was massive and crashing hard onto the beach. I told trav is was a terrible idea but we decided to go in anyway. Landing on the beach was pretty sketchy but we made it. When we looked back out at the water i knew itd be a nightmare getting back out. and ohhhhhh boy, was it ever. we chilled for the day exploring around, swimming and crab hunting and watching the waves hoping they would die down. They didnt at all! We had to get going to we just had to try and attempt it. We almost made it out, we were just passing the break, and i jumped in. a second wave flew it and tipped the boat basically perfectly upright in the air which shut the engine off so we couldnt get over the wave. Trav screamed at me to jump out of the boat and swim away. i dove out and swam as fast as i could while the entire dinghy flipped upside down. it sent all of our belongings flying all over. We flipped the dinghy back the right way anf drug it back up the beach and began scouribg through the water trying to find all of our stuff that went everywhere. Thankfully we brought the drone in a waterproof bag and i had clipped it to the engine as i was anticipating this gracious exit. We found most of our stuff but i lost my shirt, and our dinghy anchor. Now that the engine was swamped it would no longer work so we had to comw up with a new plan to get out of there. Swam it out as far as we could by hand and than trav paddled as fast as he could over thw breaks leaving me behind and telling me to " just swim and catch up" as he was doing thid he broke one of the paddles and had to try an finish with one. hahaha we finally made it out and put up travs tshirt on the oars and sailed all the way back cause we were too lazy to paddle. --------------------------------- *WHO ARE WE?* •We are a Canadian couple, Travis and Jessica. Vlog #32 We explore the small beach town of Chacala, which was beautiful, and very chill. We do some snorkelling and then head out and sail to Punta de Mita in Banderas bay. Along the way we had some dolphins visitors which is always my favourite! While in Punta de Mita we met up with some friends. We hung out a few times and went surfing. Also had some issues with our dinghy engine that took awhile to sort out. --------------------------------- *WHO ARE WE?* •We are a Canadian couple, Travis and Jessica. Vlog #31 We take a break from our boat jobs and go in visit a waterfall outside of San Blas. We finish up our jobs for the time being and finally leave San Blas. Vlog #30 In San Blas, Mexico, we are finally getting out mast put back in! The awesome guys at the boat yard had never attempted it before but we decided to try anyway, with a boat lift! haha They assured us they could make it happen! Luckily after a lot of readjusting we finally got it in. We put the dingy back in the water, finished reattaching the rigging and got all the sails reattached. The sails were very quick and easy, just kidding we put them up wrong multiple times haha. We then took a trip with some friends we had made to la tovara which is a crocodile sanctuary! Was such a beautiful ride and atmosphere. We swam in the fresh water and jumped off the swing ropes, was a great day! --------------------------------- *WHO ARE WE?* •We are a Canadian couple, Travis and Jessica. Vlog # 29 Still in San Blas, Mexico, we tried to finish our boat jobs quickly. So excited to get back on the hook and explore. We took a break one day and headed up the ruins of an old fort. Finally able to play with our new drone down here in Mexico! We hauled out and painted the bottom and kept on finishing the new dynema rigging! --------------------------------- *WHO ARE WE?* •We are a Canadian couple, Travis and Jessica. Vlog #27 We leave Punta Mita and start heading north so we can take our boat out of the water while we go home to work for hurricane season. We decided to stop into San Blas to refuel and provision for our trip. As we were sitting at the fuel dock is when the pandemic broke out and marinas and towns were closing everywhere to new people. We decided it would be best to stay put to ensure we had somewhere to stay. We stayed here about a month before departing home to Canada. When we returned we were suprised and happy to see that our boat was still floating and intact! We took the mast off so we could re rigg it with dynema. --------------------------------- *WHO ARE WE?* •We are a Canadian couple, Travis and Jessica. Vlog#27 We sail from La Cruz to Punta de Mita. This journey wasn’t a long one, just to the tip of Banderas Bay but we saw the most whales we’ve ever seen in that short of time! Every tack we made we were dodging them. The engine breaks down and we have no idea why so we have no choice but to sail into the anchorage and anchor under sail! We’ve done it once before so we weren’t scared. But it’s never something you really want to do. We finally get anchored and trav figures out the problem, thank god it’s an easy fix this time. We snorkel around and clean the bottom of our boat, which is totally disgusting, because we’ve been procrastinating on it. But we finally get it done. Also get bitten everywhere by some weird bugs? Sea lice? Does anyone know what these are? Also Jessica gets stung but a jellyfish for the first time and is not happy at all about it 😂 The waves that were predicted for surfing never really arrived so we decided to just make our own and go dinghy surfing! Catch ya next time! -------------------------------- Instagram- @Sailingdecorum --------------------------------- --------------------------------- *WHO ARE WE?* •We are a Canadian couple, Travis and Jessica. Vlog #26 We sail out of La Paz with our next destination being Banderas Bay. We check out a few anchorages on our way down to los frailes. We arrived there late in the day and went to bed. When we woke up it was Travs birthday and we were ready to set sail. It would take us about three days to go straight across to Banderas Bay. Along the way we once again saw a bunch of whales and dolphins and caugh another mahi! Delicious! We were so excited to finally arrive into the heat! La Paz had been quite chilly and the first mate was over it! Check yaaaa next time when we check out the town and go swimming. -------------------------------- Instagram- @Sailingdecorum --------------------------------- --------------------------------- *WHO ARE WE?* •We are a Canadian couple, Travis and Jessica. Vlog#25 We sail out of Cabo San Lucas and off to get propane. We thought it would take a quick hour maybe! but it turned into an all day event. We called the day before and we were told that we could buy it at the marina fuel dock, but upon arrival, they didn't actually sell it there. So off onto a big adventure to try and get a ride there! We dandy plan on staying overnight there, but a quick stop in town, but turned out we had to as we didn't make it back to the boat until 530 at night. We left the next morning on our way to our next stop, Los Frailes. As we dropped the anchor, Jessica threw it into reverse to back down on the anchor, and nothing happened. We were dead in the water! After going ashore and asking everyone we could find, we finally found an extremely nice expat on the beach that let us borrow a tool we needed to fix our boat! They even radioed to us to let us know that there was a truck with fresh organic food if we wanted to come buy some, which of course we did!! It was amazing. We then went on our way to La Paz, it was the only destination plan we have had since we left Canada, it was exciting to arrive, but we also had no idea what we were gonna do next!! -------------------------------- Instagram- @Sailingdecorum --------------------------------- --------------------------------- *WHO ARE WE?* •We are a Canadian couple, Travis and Jessica. Vlog# 24 This time we sail 3 days straight down the Baja coast of Mexico from Magdalena Bay to Cabo San Lucas. Along the way we caught some tuna but let a few skip jacks go trying to get the specific kind we wanted. We got some sourdough starter from a sailor in Magdalena Bay that has been around since the 1800s, he also circumnavigated with it on his boat and he gave us some to carry on the tradition. The first thing we made was sourdough pretzels and they were amazing!!! After 3 days we finally make it into Cabo San Lucas just as the sun was rising. The water was insanely clear and beautiful so we obviously had to jump in and snorkel around. We dove down the check out the anchor and see all the beautiful fish swimming around. Then we took the dinghy through the bay to check out the famous Playa del Amor (Lover's Beach) and El Arco, a natural archway in the sea cliffs. We also went into town for supplies and to check out the town. It was so busy and crazy, something we were definitely not used to at all after being by ourselves on the boat for so long in the middle of nowhere!! See you in the next video!! -------------------------------- Instagram- @Sailingdecorum ------------------------------- --------------------------------- *WHO ARE WE?* •We are a Canadian couple, Travis and Jessica. Vlog#23 This time we sail to Santa Maria, Mexico. It was incredibly beautiful. Not many people stop here as there isn't a town with stores to provision in or anywhere to buy diesel, but its definitely worth it. We found a sand dollar beach that was covered in them. We went into an estuary that was very tricky to get into to. It was as though it had its own bar crossing, so we had to time our approach and exit, although we still managed to get soaked on the last wave on the way out. Along the estuary there are many houses and all the locals were kind and waved as we rode by. A panga even waved us over to the right spot to get into the estuary when we were clearly missing the entry way as it is kind of hidden! Vlog #22 We sail from Turtle Bay to Punta Abreojos overnight and had a surprise visitor. Jessica got hit by a duck???? in the middle of the night. Not too sure, some kind of avian creature. Let me know if you can correctly identify this wild specimen that illegally boarded my boat without permission! Then in the morning Trav got straight to catching tuna. One after the other until i finally had to make him pull the lines out, it was getting to be too much and the freezer was full. When we arrived at Punta Abreojos we had a nap and then went into town for supplies. Loved this town, it was super cute and everyone was sooooo nice. We had to do a surf landing in the dinghy. Trav told me that he would tell me when I should jump out. Of course I didnt listen, and jumped way too soon, straight into neck level water. Trav really was impressed and made fun of me all day about that stupidity. We finally got in and got our water and groceries and (tried) to cruise back to Decorum. Along the way our dinghy engine decided to randomly shut off and we were paddling for our lives. (Jessica paddling not actually shown, but DID happen) For real. There was no one around to save us and we were either going to be pushed over to Japan and have to get new passports orrrr? Not sure, that's all we had. Thank god at least we had just gone to town and gotten water and a bunch of groceries, who knows how long we'll be out here for. After struggling for days finally I looked up and yelled TRAV WERE SAVED. He didnt believe me he thought I was just seeing a mirage, also at this point he probably thought that I was a mirage. Thank sweet lord baby jesus that it wasn't actually a mirage, REAL life panga with two dapper gentlemen came and saved us. They refused to let us exchange currency for the saving of the lives. They dropped us off back at our boat and we sailed off towards (plot twist!) Japan. Where we became citizens. Amazing! Vlog #21 The day we sailed into Turtle Bay from Ensenada was gorgeous and hot. So nice, that Trav finally went for a swim by his own choice (not diving in in the middle of the ocean to cut crab pot lines off) The next day the wind started picking up and was really uncomfortable and rolly on the boat. It was expected to be 20 knots of wind, which is shitty but we’d be ok. It just kept getting more and more windy and we stayed up all night taking shifts sleeping to keep watch and make sure our anchor didn’t drag or break. The whole bow was smashing into the water and totally submerging. It was pouring rain and we had a leak in the boat so the interior got completely soaked as well. In the morning everyone was discussing on the radio and one guy said he clocked 52 knots of wind the night before, which almost 100kms. It was really stressful and scary, but we are so thankful our anchor held and everything turned out fine! -------------------------------- Instagram- @Sailingdecorum --------------------------------- --------------------------------- *WHO ARE WE?* •We are a Canadian couple, Travis and Jessica. Vlog#20 We finally sail into Ensenada, Mexico still not knowing if they would let us in as we didn't have "correct" paperwork. We had a since we had sailed all night and were woken up saying it was time to go check in at customs. We had the marina help us as we thought wed have a better chance getting in with someone helping us! Paying for help really worked out, he got us in quite easily and we moved into a slip in the marina for a few days and their was weather coming through that we didn't want to go into. Trav was extremely excited as he had talked for years about wanting to see the baja 1000 for years, and it just so happened we accidentally pulled in right when it was on! We needed to replenish our diesel and water, so we ordered water to be delivered and Travis went to go get diesel. It was really far but he decided to walk it anyway so we would appreciate it more because we had had to use it so much all through America. The water guy ended up being late so we missed watching the kickoff of the baja 1000, Trav was extremely disappointed. We then left on to Turtle Bay where we caught a bunch of fish along the way!! -------------------------------- Instagram- @Sailingdecorum --------------------------------- --------------------------------- *WHO ARE WE?* •We are a Canadian couple, Travis and Jessica.
