Heyy Coco'ers! This episode we ride out a windy week in Nassau - Bahamas so we use the time to enjoy a couple take-aways (thanks Atlantis Hotel!), make the most of the internet signal and get creative while we're stuck on our boat! (don't get us wrong, we were very happy to be 'stuck' in a protected anchorage in the Bahamas!) While we're stuck onboard, we show you how we make our water from the sea, provision while at anchor, and with a little mad rush to the head, we go a little stir-crazy and decide to pimp our spare cabin.. creating another room for us to use at times when we haven't got any guests in that cabin!! By the way, while we are still a little overwhelmed with work in our current life we have decided posting every other week, for the time being, will be more manageable for us! Thank you for following ? ? Welcome to our Sailing Vlog - Sailing Coco! After 7 years of renovating boats, we restored our Snapdraggon 27, sailed our 33ft Colvic Countess Monohull around the Med and then left London for good once we bought a Lucia 40 Fountaine Pajot Catamaran! Thank you all for bearing with us these past few months!! A lot has gone on since we left the boat and we have been working non-stop. Now that we are starting to get into a routine again we are looking forward to editing our videos again and catching you all up with the rest of our travels and what's been going on since we've been back! This week we have an incredible time exploring the Exumas in the Bahamas with our friends onboard! From Pig Beach, to Thunderball's Grotto (where James Bond was filmed!), picking up stranded people again, to the unbelievable views of Shroud Cay! The whole week was magical and so worth travelling all the miles we have racked up so far! Sorry there's not a lot of speaking this video, we still had microphone issues so a lot of it didn't come out.. we tried to make the best of a bad situation but hopefully the visuals this week should help ? ? We are sooo sorry for the silence! We are back!!! In real time we've been back in England for hurricane season and have been swamped with catching up with work and working on some exciting projects which we can't wait to share with you! We love and appreciate all the messages we have received, we have been swamped and didn't realise how long it was since we posted a video, each week has rolled into the next so quickly! But here we are back sailing on our vids and will get you guys caught up to real time as quick as we can! This week we leave Long Island and check into the Bahamas! We sail to the Exumas, an incredible island in the Bahamas, to pick up Cey's school friend and partner and explore the beautiful Exumas with them! It was a tense week trying to find the perfect place for this BIG moment in the Bahamas but in the end the best place was found onboard Coco. Enjoy ??? ? Welcome to our Sailing Vlog - Sailing Coco! Wow... what a sail we had from Turks & Caicos to Crooked Island. We never thought these sailing conditions we had actually existed and thought they were only made in the movies ? It was the kind of sailing we had only ever dreamt about and the stars aligned and gave us the best sailing we had ever experienced! Glistening water, flat seas and good wind!! We hope you enjoy our EPIC passage with us across these shallow, turquoise waters and put it on your bucket list of places to sail!!! Now we've been spoilt, how are we ever going to love normal sailing now ? ? Welcome to our Sailing Vlog - Sailing Coco! Wow we really sailed to paradise! We set sail from Puerto Rico for a 3 day and 2 night passage to Turks & Caicos! We bring you with us on our eventful passage to an unexpected paradise on Three Mary's island, the most southern island in Turks & Caicos! We LOVED every single minute of this 3 day sail, even the little dramas we had gave us some entertainment and kept us on our toes! Sorry we had a couple weeks off with our videos, we needed a little reset and wanted to make this one the best we could to fully capture how much we enjoyed the passage! We made this episode a little longer to make up for it! Hope you enjoyyyy x ? Welcome to our Sailing Vlog - Sailing Coco! Sorry we left you Coco!!!!! England calls us back for a quick trip to attend a wedding, stag do and catch up with our 'Sutton Mariner's' sailing club as well as friends and family. It was all going swimmingly until ?Covid catches us again!! This time it's Alf in for the ride and a quick trip turns into an extended one causing us to fall behind on our sailing deadlines and the boat getting a tad damaged. We left Coco in a marina on the East side of Puerto Rico, unfortunately during the time we had to stay in the UK a little longer, some bad wind and swell came causing our doubled up lines to snap which lead to a little damage to our boat. Luckily... we get off lightly!! We also add some new additions to our Catamaran before swiftly sailing our way to the West side to get ready for a few crossings! Next stop.... THE BAHAMAS!! This week we are disappointed in ourselves! We make a careless mistake and our eyes were not on the ball... literally!! But we keep our cool, figure it out and regroup to solve the issue we got ourselves into! Before we may have got more stressed with a problem like this, but living on a boat teaches you that issues will always happen and stressing will never help anything! We are Puerto Rico bound!! After sailing across the Atlantic from Gran Canaria to Cape Verde to Grenada, we finally take a little break from the constant sailing and settle down in Puerto Rico for some time! We enjoy our new home for the week after sailing Coco from Culebra to Culebrita, just east of Puerto Rico. We explore land and sea with a bit of hiking and Spearfishing and of course? Hey everyone! We hope you have all been keeping safe and well ?? Sorry we've been a little quiet on here, we had a lot of celebrations and a few stresses recently and needed a little break but we are BACK and ready to go again!! This week we explore the beautiful island of Martinique with our friends Ollie and Claire on Amanaki! We actually bought our boats at the same time and were in the same marina but didn't know or meet each other until we were both about to cross with the Arc in Las Palmas! Small world! They also have a YouTube channel if you would like to watch below: https://www.youtube.com/user/clairepv After a little island exploring, Coco and Amanaki sail across to Dominica and Guadeloupe together, with a playful 'not a race' RACE! Let's be honest.. whenever there are two boats next to eachother, it automatically becomes a 'not a race' race... So let's see who wins on the sail to Dominica! "Let's Sail Upwind!!" ...said no one EVER!! ..because it's uncomfortable and things tend to always break! We beat into the winds to make our way up to the top of the Caribbean Islands and sail upwind from Bequia to St Vincent to St Lucia to Martinique over 3 days! We manage to explore St Vincent a little and go to Wallilabou Bay where Pirates of the Caribbean was filmed before carrying on with our upwind sailing where we manage to break something on the boat... ? Where did Alf take us to?? Well... This island was not on our list of places to stop, but after a couple recommendations we decided to see what it had to offer. We carry on sailing and move along the windward islands from Tobago Cays to the BEAUTIFUL island of Bequia!! We had never heard of Bequia before then and after a few recommendations we managed to squeeze in a quick stop and boy was it an incredible surprise for us all. Maybe because we never heard of the island before we didn't have any expectations on it's beauty. The balance of happiness, tranquility and party life on Bequia is what really stood out to us and will always remain a special place to us three. Join us on our quick trip to this beautiful Island, that we're soo happy Alf took us to, having on one of the best days in our lives.. ? Welcome to our Sailing Vlog - Sailing Coco! We move on from the sailing across the Atlantic towing incident and finally settle into the Caribbean! We made it across 4200 nautical miles from Cartagena Spain to Grenada within 2 months and after finding the stranded sailor along our Atlantic passage, being tired was an understatement. We spent a week in Port Louis Marina in Grenada and then we were off to explore the Island's we have been dreaming about since getting our first sailing boat in 2014. Ofcourse our Snapdragon 27ft sail boat was a little too small to cross the Atlantic Ocean so we spent years renovating and upgrading our boats and were finally confident to on our Fountaine Pajot Lucia 40. As you have seen in our previous videos, we successfully made it across to the Caribbean and it was time to start ticking off our Bucket List. In this video, you'll see us tick of Ceylan's NUMBER ONE item on her Bucket List? Tobago Cays ?? Ceylan's cousin Dania joined us for this trip and we meet up with our friend's, Claire & Ollie, on @navegandoamanaki in Tobago Cays. They take us on a little sail to Petit Tabac where Pirates of the Caribbean was films and it's safe to say that the whole of St. Vincent & the Grenadines stole all our hearts with it's beauty! We hope you enjoy joining us on a less dramatic sail this week? no towing included. ? ? Welcome to our Sailing Vlog - Sailing Coco! Our sail across the Atlantic Ocean was a little scarier than expected. We were on the home straight, everything was going smooth and then it happened..... We spotted a single handed French sailor LOST AT SEA. Having being stranded at sea for 3 weeks and dismasted for 3 days with no engine, we spotted his dismasted yacht being thrown around by the fierce swell of the Atlantic. After countless times of trying to summon the help of the coastguard from various Caribbean islands, each time we got a refusal of help. We knew it was up to us to get the lost sailor to safety. That was the only thought in all of our minds as we battled through 6 meter seas with 40+ knot winds. "If this was in the UK the RNLI would have been here - a sentence we would constantly say to each-other" After a sleepless night, we all battled against the odds to rescue this stranded sailor. Whoever says that catamarans are not a "seaworthy" "blue-water" sailing vessel needs to watch the video. Coco our Fountaine Pajot Lucia 40 done everything we would expect from a seaworthy blue-water sailing boat. We are happy everyone is safe. At the end of the day, we are all in this community together, and without each-other, where would we be? Thank you ALL for watching our last two videos, we are blown away by the amount of views and supportive comments we have received. We never expected so many people to be invested in the rescue story of the stranded sailor we found on our Atlantic crossing. We have received a lot of questions which may have not been clear in the last two videos so we thought we would do a recap on the situation and what we could have done differently if we were ever to find someone stranded again in the middle of the Atlantic ? hopefully not!! Thank you soo much for all your tips on how we could have done things better if there is a next time, we have taken it all onboard and discussed it this week. Soo if you would like to join our recap, maybe grab some tea and biscuits and join in with our conversation. We hope to see you next week on our less dramatic adventures!! Our sail across the Atlantic Ocean continues. We were on the home straight, everything was going smooth and then it happened..... We spotted a single handed French sailor LOST AT SEA. Having being dismasted and stranded at sea for 3 weeks with no engine, we spotted this dismasted yacht being thrown around by the fierce swell of the Atlantic. In part 1 you saw us establish a tow with the stranded vessel and then.... SNAP the tow line broke which then became a regular occurrence. We managed to reconnect the tow every-time. After countless times of trying to summon the help of the coastguard from various Caribbean islands, each time getting a refusal of help. We knew it was up to us to get the lost sailor to safety. That was the only thought in all of our minds as we battled through 6 meter seas with 40+ knot winds. "If this was in the UK the @rnli would have been here - a sentence we would constantly say to each-other" After a sleepless night, with the help of our moral boosting egret "Rodders" we all battled against the odds to rescue this stranded sailor. It's strange to think, that even to this day, we haven't even spoke to the sailor that was lost at sea. Whoever says that catamarans are not a "seaworthy" "blue-water" sailing vessel needs to watch the video. Soooo maybe we shouldn't have moaned about being bored in our last video because things were about to get CrAzY!!! No in all honesty, we are seriously grateful that our journey crossing the Atlantic went exactly as it did beforehand and our time aligned perfectly with finding this stranded man on his dismasted yacht. It was a French boat and at the time we had found out that his boat had been dismasted by a squall three days prior to us finding him. We can only imagine how scared and uncomfortable he must have been rolling around the Atlantic waves and not knowing how long it would be for. When we saw him and edged closer, we saw him wave a little pink cloth to get our attention. Once we grabbed the line he put out for us, he fell to his knees and prayed. A vision we will never forget. In this video you will see when we first spotted the dismasted yacht and the stranded man rolling around the seas. We immediately took out all our spare rope and rigged up a tow line as best we could. As night set in, the sea state gets worse and we try to call the surrounding coastguards for help incase the tow line snaps again during the night? you won't believe what happens at the end of this video ?? ? Wow were there a lot of squalls on our passage! Crossing 2200 nautical miles across the Atlantic was actually a little tougher than expected and as much as we love sailing and hate to come across negative, we did struggle with the mental battle a little towards the end, as well as dealing with all the squalls coming our way ...squall after squall after squall! The crazy thing is it was before a heap of drama we were about to endure.. but here is how we coped with the second half of our Atlantic crossing on our Lucia 40 Catamaran, before we spotted a dismasted boat stranded at sea. ? WE ARE CROSSING THE ATLANTIC TO THE CARIBBEAN!! This is what we have dreamt about since purchasing our first boat and 8 years ago, a 27ft Snapdraggon, and now we are finally in a more self sufficient boat heading towards the goal we had set ourselves. It took us 18 days to cross the Atlantic from Cape Verde to Grenada, which was a taddd longer than we expected... pretty soon you will find out why!! ?
