#sailing #ep36 #sailingbeaver Sailing through the Tuamotu Atolls in French Polynesia has been one of the most rewarding and challenging experiences on our journey from Norway to date. Some strong tradewinds send us searching for shelter behind some tiny motus in the south east of Tahanea & we explore the underwater scenery of the passes. Enjoy! #sailing #sailingbeaver #ep35 Sailing to the Tuamotu Archipelago in French Polynesia has been a lifelong dream and to arrive here in our own small floating home is nothing short of amazing. This is also the arrival location of the famous Norwegian Kon-Tiki expedition led by Thor Heyerdahl, we check out the island his raft arrived and enjoy this pristine coral atoll. Enjoy ?? #sailingbeaver #boattour #bluewatercruiser Boat Tour of our 36ft Najad, a heavy duty Bluewater sailboat built to the highest standards in Sweden in 1986. The perfect boat for exploring the Arctic regions with a range of features we would like to introduce from both the exterior and interior with a comparison to our previous Beneteau production yacht. This video is a realtime update that's out of sequence to our usual Pacific Crossing videos which we wanted to share in order to update everyone that is interested. Another first for us was a very close encounter with a whale that crept up on us one early morning and appeared right alongside our hull. A scary moment for sure! In this first part of our crossing we experience some rough weather conditions with heavy squalls, acceleration zones and a bumpy sea state as we depart Guadeloupe and the Lesser Antilles. Make sure to buckle up and get the popcorn out for this one! To elaborate further on our little whale encounter we have put together an article with a break down of the chain of events that morning including photos, our general thoughts on whale collisions at sea and if there is anything that could have been done to prevent this. #sailingbeaver #oceanis40 #beneteauoceanis Our next stop in the Caribbean is the volcanic green island of Grenada or the Spice Island, as it's so called! To our surprise we discover that there is a surf break in one of the anchorages we visit (within paddle reach!!), which gave this average to poor anchorage a whole lot of bonus points! A big big score! We also go searching for waterfalls in the lush tropical rain forest! We receive a little care package from Sarah & Will at @Hydrovane, which is much appreciated!
