EP 228: We found this on a sunken plane! | Sailing the Bahamas We carried on island hopping around in the Bahamas. We left Buena Vista Cay and made our way to Flamingo Cay where we had a good experience with sharks, had a stowaway and found something crazy on a wrecked plane on the beach. We then made our way to water cay to relax on the beach and check out fisherman's cove with a good celebratory drink for Grants birthday. Then we made our way to Long Island for a bit of civilization again! EP 225: Farewell Lady Africa.. So the time had come to sign paperwork and make it official.. We motored Lady Africa to the USVI to her new home in St Thomas. What a crazy roller coaster of emotions. EP 224: The last few moments.. ?? While we were on Peter Island here by the Willy T, we decided it was time to get some blood flowing through our body and we went for a good hike around the island. EP 223: We're in Charter Boat Central.. After facing some unfavorable wind conditions, we anchorage hopped around to find a place where we could be sheltered for the worst of it. We found ourselves anchored outside a private island with a cute little beach. EP 221: Sailing with a broken knee ? Since we we're in St Maarten which is considered the more built up island of the Caribbean, we opted to go to the doctor to see if we could get Ricky's "what we though was a torn meniscus" sorted. We booked an appointment for surgery which ended up being part of his bone had lost blood supply and was dead which had to be removed and the floating piece of cartilage had to be removed as well. 2 surgeries later.. We had a blast hanging out with Sailing Sunday as well. Thank goodness for them or we would have lost our minds here in St Maarten all alone. Lady Africa is a 36.5ft Dean Catamaran. Built in 1991. Complete rebuild in 2020. Everything is new as of 2020. She has crossed the Atlantic ocean from South Africa to the Bahamas and has spent the last 1 and a half years cruising the Caribbean. Fully kitted out, blue water capable boat. She has two new Vetus 27hp inboard saildrive diesel engines with approx 500 hours on each. EP 214: Road tripping through the USA ? | Adjusting to life back on land! We're back, sorry for being MIA for a while but a lot has been happening, from work, business opportunities, drivers licenses, credit scores and just adjusting to life back on land but also life back on land as immigrants to a new country. We've had to start our lives basically from scratch (which is oddly refreshing) well for me (Simone) at least. We recap back to exploring Michigan and the lake of Saugatuck, which by the way is freezing but beautiful! We headed off to Holland to experience some Dutch influence and drove back to Indiana with a pit stop to see some really cool planes (bonus for Ricky) Couple months later.. we headed down to Salt Lake City.. we've always loved it down here and experienced it on our honeymoon back in 2017. It is a state that just appeals so much to Ricky and I and both our hobbies and we definitely see it as a place we would love to raise our kids one day so we made the decision to move here. EP 211: Rum comes from here? | How Caribbean Rum is Made After situating ourselves on anchor in Hartman Bay, we headed off to Grande Anse beach for a swim. It was so good to be back in warm Caribbean waters. We headed off to Young Cruisers Association meet up and got to meet alot of younger cruisers like us. We headed off on a scooter trip with Joel, Dave & Lance where we ended up exploring a few rum factories and learnt how rum was made. What an interesting fact.. that rum actually originated in the West Indies with it being first recorded in Barbados. We also found a pretty solid mooring ball for Lady Africa while we fly off..
