In this episode, I open up about something I've been avoiding - the real struggle behind the scenes. Managing two expedition sailboats, keeping the crew afloat (literally and emotionally), filming for multiple projects, and trying to be present in the chaos? it's been a lot. And somewhere along the way, I lost my spark for vlogging. This isn't your usual adventure episode. It's raw. Honest. Maybe even a little messy. But it's real. If you've ever felt overwhelmed chasing a dream or like you're falling behind in the thing you love most - this one's for you. Thanks for being here. - Nate

Ahoy Fam!!!! This one is a very very raw and real story close to our heart, the story we never told about this beautiful vessel we call home. We hope that it helps explain a lot, no video could ever do justice to the amount of work that went into this boat or to really shed light on the man who meticulously built her, but we tried our best. Meet Sylfia, a 23-meter steel expedition ketch with a story as unique as her design. Built with passion and precision by Bernard Kuczera, Sylvan, Sofia, and Nadine have heart-to-heart discussions about their upbringing and love of the ocean. In this video, we explore Sylfia's origins, the inspiration behind her construction, and the bond that makes her a truly one-of-a-kind vessel. Follow the Kuczera family as they embark on an unforgettable journey, sailing Sylfia from Fremantle to Exmouth along Western Australia's stunning coastline. From Bernard's meticulous craftsmanship to the family's shared spirit of exploration, this is more than a story about a boat-it's a celebration of ingenuity, adventure, and the ties that bind. ? Route: Fremantle ? Exmouth, WA ? About Sylfia: Expedition-ready, steel-built, and full of heart. Dive in to learn more about the vessel, her builders, and her latest adventure across Australia's breathtaking waters. ? Edited by Angie Big Shout Out to all our partners making this dream come to life. Highfield Boats @Highfieldboats Garmin Marine @Garmin Lumitec Marine Lighting @LumitecLighting Fusion Marine Audio @FusionAGarminBrand Battleborn Batteries @battlebornbatteries Mantus Anchors @MantusMarine Elcho Engineering @elchoengineering4319 Rib Worx Fremantle @ribworx Yamaha Outboards @YamahaMotorUSA We knew we wanted a strong Rigid Inflatable Boat to cut down on weight and also the soft ride of the tubes, we wanted to upgrade our current dinghy Deborah that we've had since 2019 when we built her in New Zealand. This new tender is actually the realization of the dream we had back then but it has now far ecceded what we thought possible. Highfield Boats: We chose a Highfield because they are the leaders in RIB's with their aluminum hull and strong tubes we were certain that this work horse would be great for years to come. We decided to go with a Patrol 460 because we loved the center console. We modified it a bit by pushing the consol forward to allow space for the dive rack, and then reinforced the bow so that we could use the RIB to push sylfia around acting as a bow thruster. So far we are LOVING this Highfield 460, she's strong, she literally glides on top of the water. Garmin: When you are looking for a chart plotter that relies on GPS why look any further than the leaders in the GPS market. We chose a Garmin GPSMap 953XSV with a transducer so we could scout the ocean floor in 3D looking for ship wrecks and cool topography. https://www.garmin.com Lumitec Lighting: These guys have made a name for themselves as the leader in Marine Lighting, and for good reason, their products are top quality. We installed Six Seablaze X2's in the hull, we did this so that on a night dive we could always located the vessel, but also it attracts plankton which in turn attract many marine species such as mantas and squids. Maxilum H60 to light up the path ahead of the dinghy to make sure we didn't bump into something at night and to also light up the tender to get geared up for a night dive. Two Caprera3 Full Spectrum Flood Lights for the party vibes. https://www.lumiteclighting.com Fusion Marine Audio We knew we wanted the party vibes when out for a wakeboard sesh, or to bring the stoke level up for a dive so fusion marine speakers were a no brainer. We installed Fusion XS Marine Speakers on the sides of the consol. Fusion XS Waketower Speakers on the tower. Fusion Apollo Marine Stereo complete with a Apollo Amplifier so we could upload music and also bluetooth straight from our phones. For extra bonus our Garmin Dive Watches also control the music! https://www.garmin.com/en-US/c/marine/fusion-audio-entertainment/ Battleborn Batteries: With this much power running through the tender we knew we needed a battery we could rely on. So we went with a brand we have tested and trust, we installed a 100 Amp Hour 12v LiFePO4 Deep Cycle Lithium Battleborn Battery to make sure that we are fully juiced at all times. https://battlebornbatteries.com Mantus Marine Anchors: That is a lot of boat on the line, literally! your boat is only ever as safe as its anchor tackle system. So we installed Mantus Model -M1 and a Mantus Anchor Swivel to ensure that the anchor dug in everytime. These are known to be the very best digging anchors on the market. Elcho Engineering: Matt & Aitor our long time crew and friends are incredible engineers and helped take this idea from sketches on a napkin and whispers over a beer to an actual 3D image CAD file which helped us perfect the design prior to production. These guys can do a lot more than just design a dinghy, so if you need their services hit them up. http://elchoengineering.com RibWorx: Steve over at RibWorx fremantle helped facilitate bringing in our Highfield and spend countless hours with us teaching us exactly how to modify our new baby. If you are in Western Australia and are looking for a RIB look no further as he can customize exactly what you are looking for. https://www.ribworx.com.au Yamaha: We decided reliability was a must when looking for an outboard so we went with quality we can count on and went with a Yamaha 90HP 4 Stroke, this outboard purrs Icom: We installed a Icom VHF system so we could always be in contact with the mother ship and also hail other vessels if need be, safety always. Time stood still?. Read below ? This moment has been at the top of my bucket list for years! And I can honestly say it far exceeded my expectations. I was expecting deep, dark, uncomfortable currents? and at best a murky glimpse of this species that has eluded me for years. But what I got was crystal clear, shallow beautiful one on one interactions with this graceful creature. It literally swam over my head for minutes on end getting closer with each pass. Apparently since Covid the threshers have moved pinnacles to a shallow spot, this was news to me and all I can say is now is the time? go if you can. Time stood still & I only wish the camera could pick up the rainbow effect that is their skin in the gleaming light. Nothing short of a unicorn in my option? and this is why it's my new favourite shark. Welcome aboard, we hope you can take a little time out of your day to sit back, relax and join the crew of Expedition Drenched on a sailing adventure to the edge of the world in our very first DOCUMENTARY! In this full documentary, we'll take you on a rare journey through Tasmania's rugged coastline, showcasing its stunning landscapes and diverse ecosystems. From fluffy wombats to playful dolphins, curious seals, and giant sea birds, Tasmania is home to some of the most unique and fascinating creatures on the planet. But the path less travelled is usually that way for a reason? And that's because this is no easy journey. To sail around this island we had to be prepared for some of the most tiring and testing sails we'd ever experience. All the while, filming as much as we can of the journey and what we discover, in the hope that it will inspire profound care and love for our natural world.
