What Sailing means to me. Sailing is a source of inspiration and humility, it teaches attentiveness, anticipation, resourcefulness, patience and prioritisation. The choice that we made to take a leap of faith and buy a sailboat has led to countless beautiful experiences and over time, we have grown to understand more about ourselves, each other, our boat & mother nature. We live our days on the ocean under the sky, moon, stars and sun, we witness the change of tides daily until it is clockwork in our brain. There's still a mountain of learning to be done, but today, we celebrate our growth. Chapter by chapter we turn the pages of our own syllabus trying to better ourselves by 1% everyday. "At first I was afraid I was petrified." Overtime, with practice and repetition, with knowledge we have gained through experience, fears are replaced by anticipation and I look forward to the growth ahead of us aboard Ujud as sailors.

We're finally sailing! Without any official sailing school lessons or courses, we have been teaching ourselves how to sail. We both started from zero without any sailing experience when we bought Ujud. Over the time of ownership, reaching this point has been a relatively slow process in comparison to the many sailors we encounter in person. We live aboard our small sailboat and it's taken time to gain confidence about the very many things that sailing involves. It's nice for future us to be able to look back to today's achievement as a couple, we are sailing with both the mainsail and the Genoa. Both sails are reefed down so that we're not overpowered. Our first week of life at anchor and sailing fulltime. This season is dedicated to sailing. We haven't had the chance to just sail yet because of the monsoon season that just passed and before that we had our senior dogs Roxy and Bo with us onboard which proved too challenging to head out sailing. Part 1 - We were preparing to leave for Koh Lipe on a friend's sailboat when this happened. The engine wasn't starting so the owner decided to check the fuel injectors as he suspected there maybe water in them. Upon opening the second injector, water came shooting out! Why and how? Part 2 Sea Water Found In Fuel Injectors We were preparing to leave for Koh Lipe on a friend's sailboat but the engine couldn't turn. The owner suspects water in the injectors so opened them up. He was right. Water shot out of the second injector. What do we do next? We found the reason but why was this modification made to this previously tip top healthy Yanmar Engine? We didn't know about Thermal Cookers until we started living on our sailboat and needed to find ways to conserve gas. These thermal cookers are the bomb! They only use 8 mins of gas and then leave it for 2 hours for a ready delicious meal.
