Refit delayed so this is a between refitting episode. Small jobs and daily life while waiting for parts from Sweden. Almost done with everything but four rods are putting everything on hold. It shipped express so should not be that much delayed. Meanwhile doing some other small jobs onboard and also got my second jab of the vaccine.

Join me on this amazing adventure as I leave Fiji and set sail for Indonesia on a 3000 nautical mile journey. Some say it is crazy some say it's impossible. I say it is doable with modern yacht and technology, knowledge, and a good strategy. In this video I am sharing my strategy and how I am executing this challenging sail as I am starting on this journey. Several challenges in sailing such long distances during the South Pacific cyclone season, from Fiji to Indonesia. The obvious one is of course cyclones, but light winds and changing winds are just as big a challenge. Now I have a big challenge as a massive cyclone is gonna block my passage.

A while back I fixed a superficial issue, but it created a hazard on my boat. THIS is the solution!! If you have ever considered putting fake teak decks down, I can highly recommend using DekIt! THE FALKEN SAGAS: An Epic Adventure with 59º North Sailing Along The Viking Route:
Newfoundland to Greenland to Iceland.

Welcome to the first episode of The Falken Sagas series. I left Triteia in her southern hemisphere’s winter berth in Whangarei, New Zealand and flew back to North America to meet up with Andy Schell and 59º North Sailing. Andy had invited me to join him on a high latitude adventure onboard their Farr 65, Falken, to sail the Viking Route from Newfoundland to Greenland, transit Prince Christian Sound and sail on to the West Fjords of Iceland across the North Atlantic. Along for this adventure was Andy’s First Mate Vilma and the crew of the Falken; Jim, Matt, Richa, Johnathan, Charlotte, Gavin, Alejandro & Nick.

I have made several long format films and video episodes documenting our journey and adventures. Starting with preparations in Newfoundland then our passage to Greenland, our time cruising in Southern Greenland and our passage to Iceland. All of the drone footage you see in the films was shot by Andy Schell, otherwise all the footage was filmed by myself on a gopro.

Navigation Station Build Out Part 6: Completion of the Nav Station

Hello Friends,

It felt the day would never come...

On this episode I finish up (mostly) hooking up the last instruments of the new nav station. I take us through the different elements of the Aft panel and talk about the KJM antenna splitter that my Digital Yacht AIS/GPS/VHF combo antenna and splits the signal between my ICOM VHF radio, Digital Yacht iAis receiver and my new JBL stereo.

Once we get everything hooked up finally get to see the panels all of their glory with lights on and switches switched.

A week or so after this video I got a 9' long Sea talk cable in so now everything is hooked up and working on the panels.

I also have a special video just about the NMEA 0183 system I will be editing and uploading sometime soon.

Episode #179 - Cutting up my own boat

Hello Friends, This is a throwback project video from the summer of 2020 when we started the massive project of redesigning and rebuilding our head.

One of only two real weaknesses of Alberg 30s is on the early models the laminated deck beam below the mast can delaminate and allow the rig to go slack and possibly dismast (the other known weakness is undersized chainplate bolts)

To solve this problem I installed a compression post under the mast and moved the pass-through to the V-Berth to starboard. This also allowed us to be able to enclose the head and turn it into a “wet head” so we could install a shower

This first episode in that saga covers me cutting out the bulkheads and Camille installing the compression post.
