Our friend Solo takes us on a barefoot hike to one of his gardens. This is not like the gardens you're used to seeing. To make their garden, first they burn, then cut the trees by axe. the wood is then used as a retainer to support the steep slopes from erosion. Due to the constant manual labour required to maintain these wild gardens, garden houses are often constructed using the felled wood to create shelter for cooking, resting/sleeping and of course chewing Betel Nut 😉 Unlike modern farming methods, there is no use of fertiliser, pesticides, herbicides, irrigation or electricity. Instead, rain, sun, and the native soil are all the plant needs. It all becomes evident when you taste the difference in the produce. This is true organic farming not just a marketing gimmick like is often the case in Western societies. We loved the Indian restaurant, right next door to the most famous street food markets (Jalan Alor). Street art is everywhere, especially in tiny alleys. Free to tour and skillfully crafted. The second tallest building in the world is still under construction. It seems like building tall and taller is a theme here. Another day full of local color in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
