Seacocks are bronze valves in a boat and are used as a safety measure for closing off holes below the water line and keeping water out of the boat for either maintenance or emergencies. We have 4 total on Seawind, and one of them has been giving us trouble for the past couple of years. I cleaned and greased this particular seacock, and ever since, it’s seeped a bit of water into the boat. The only way I could stop the leak was to tighten the valve so much that I couldn’t turn the handle! Live right now for our patrons AD FREE is EP. 55 of Sailing Seawind! We take you through the process of lapping a seacock, Katy tackles some projects of her own, and so much more! This early live viewing each week can be available to you over on our Patreon! Popcorn? Rice Krispies? Bacon frying?? Besides the sound of my regulator, the reef is a NOISY place! Yes, all those snaps and crackles are coming from the reef. The more complex the sound profile, the helathier the reef is beleived to be. Those sounds are coming from a variety of sources including snapping shrimp, fish grunts, starfish and urchin teeth as they grind against hard surfaces, and shell movement over coral. #islamujeres #scubadiving
