A rainy day in the Wrangell, Alaska shipyard with our 80’ steel schooner Alaskan Gypsy. After rescuing her from sinking in Ketchikan, I’m inside tackling the next challenge — demolishing the bathroom (head) to reach a badly corroded section of hull plating. This short clip shows a small moment in a big refit — breaking down the old vanity, cutting out rotten plywood, and facing the reality of steel boat restoration. Located at the southern end of the Agincourt Reef, just around the corner from the continental shelf drop off, Castle Rock is a large pinnacle rising from a steep sand cliff. Visibility here is extremely good and Castle rock provides for superb deep and shallow dives. Circumnavigating the pinnacle the divers are likely to see White-Tip Reef sharks resting on the sandy ocean floor.
