In this video we're sailing upwind in 35+ knots of breeze in Johnstone Strait during the VanIsle360 race with a double-reefed main sail and storm jib. A crew member is on the foredeck securing the #3 jib we had previously been flying in the short video https://youtube.com/shorts/VRAEp8M49Y4, but ripped in half. The head literally ripped right off. He is wearing a harness and tether! The sky is completely blue, but everybody is still completely soaked from the spray. Lots of sails were destroyed in that leg, including the #3 jib that is now on the foredeck. It's a hot evening, so supper's being cooked outside-simple chicken, spinach, and potatoes under the open sky. I'm using the mug my brother gave me from caribou country, where he's living his dream in a tiny house with his wife Tracy. The heat may have shifted things, but the rhythm of life afloat remains. Sunset. Supper. A slow return to the quiet joy of the boat life. ?
