Race One of the SLYC two day event Strangford Lough got under way under cloudy skies with a moderate breeze GTR was ducking and weaving to lock up the pin end of the line on port tack. With two boats choosing to duck behind them to avoid getting pushed the wrong side of the pin there was a third that could caught out and had to tack around to start correctly. With the windward position secured they could put the bow down and accelerate over the boats to leward.. Timing is everything when the left hand side of the beat is favoured. Black flag was up which created a bigger sag in the centre of the line. Timing the run to the pin allowed us to force the trailing boats into a down speed tack, a loose cover to windward and off to the top mark in a tight race. The team at bottom up boats hope you are enjoying the short clips from the 2025 racing season.
