Set Sail for Paradise: Exploring Rab Island, Croatia Croatia's Adriatic coast is a sailor's playground, and Rab Island shines brightly within it. Imagine this: crystal-clear waters lapping against your sailboat, the scent of pine clinging to the air, and charming medieval towns waiting to be explored. That's Rab in a nutshell. This island, often called the "Happy Island," offers more than just stunning scenery. So, raise the anchor and get ready for an unforgettable sailing adventure on Rab. Island Bliss: Unveiling Rab's Gems Medieval Marvels: Rab Town, the island's crown jewel, boasts a maze of narrow streets lined with Venetian-influenced buildings. Four iconic church towers pierce the skyline, remnants of a rich history. Wander through the town walls, peek into art galleries, and soak up the atmosphere. Beach Bonanza: Rab caters to every beach bum. Sunbathe on the expansive sands of Paradise Beach in Lopar, or discover hidden coves along the island's rugged coastline. For something unique, visit the naturist beach at Sahara, one of the first in Europe. Natural Delights: Venture inland to discover Rab's wild side. Hike the Kamenjak peninsula for panoramic views, or explore the Dundo Forest, a fragrant haven of Aleppo pines. Keep an eye out for rare birds and butterflies fluttering through the lush greenery. Sailing Sensations The beauty of Rab truly unfolds from the water. Navigate the calm channels between the island and mainland, or set sail for nearby islets like Maun and Sveta Grgur. These secluded spots offer pristine beaches and a chance to commune with nature. Here are some sailing tips for Rab: Favorable Winds: The island enjoys reliable winds, perfect for experienced sailors and novices alike. Charter Options: Numerous charter companies operate in Rab, offering everything from bareboat rentals to skippered tours. Hidden Gems: Local captains can guide you to secret coves and secluded bays inaccessible by land. Beyond the Boat: Exploring Rab's Delights Foodie Paradise: Indulge in fresh seafood stews ("brodet") and local delicacies like "rapska torta," a sweet cake made with almonds and figs. Wash it all down with a glass of the island's renowned grape brandy, "rakija." Festival Fun: Immerse yourself in Rab's vibrant culture. Join the Rab Fair in July, a medieval spectacle with costumed characters and traditional music. For something livelier, the Rab "Fjere" festival in August features street performers and open-air concerts. Rab Island is a treasure waiting to be discovered, and there's no better way to experience it than from the deck of a sailboat. So, set sail for Croatia's Happy Island and create memories that will last a lifetime.

This is video 5 in Nicks step by step singlehanded Docking To/With Lazy Lines =========================== Watch the full video here - https://youtu.be/-OPs960oR88 Transcript: We've checked all of our things. We're nice and clear. I was going to say we've looked at the wind but the wind unfortunately just died completely on us. Unfortunately cos I wanted to show you how to do that with wind but, yeah, anyway so. Marina Baotič, Marina Baotič this is yacht Marie do you copy. So we call up the marina on the channel that they are designated. Here it's 17. Now we are here in our approach to the marina. Now one thing I am teaching all the time when I teach, training and skippering, and all that sort of thing. With docking and manoeuvring under power, because its one of the hardest things about sailing and that is "ONLY GO AS FAST AS YOU NEED TO" and use neutral as a gear. So right now I'm doing just under 2 knots and I'm in control I have control because there is not that much wind in here and I don't need more than 2 knots to have control with my rudders. So you only go as fast as you need to, to stay in control. So I can click in and out of forward to maintain that control while I'm in here =========================== Filmed and Edited by Mahina Hathaway and Nick Hathaway, 45 Degrees Sailing Looking to sail in Croatia?
