Let's talk about those Sailfin Snapper in one of our Ribbons Reef episodes, we've been getting a lot of comments on this footage. While we've seen plenty of smaller schools over the years, this one was HUGE! We can only assume they were spawning on this reef edge when we came across them - as a lot of other species seemed to be around the same time. Amazing to witness and catch on film. Secondly, a few people have told us these are good eating however the first thing that shows up on a google search is that they've got a high cig risk. So yeah, don't think I'll risk that. While Shane was paddling the boys and I had the most amazing eagle encounter! Out of the corner of my eye it looked like something big had fallen from the sky. When I darted my eyes over I saw it was an eagle, sitting ready for takeoff after noticing our excitement in seeing it. I yelled for the boys to come see and we had fun watching it for 20 or so seconds it was with us.
