We dive into a deep, hidden lagoon on the edge of a remote reef, where schools of surgeonfish and parrotfish surge past like a living river over dramatic drop-offs and coral canyons. Winding through underwater tunnels beneath ancient limestone, we chase the mystery of what waits around each corner. We caught up with Team Loustic SuperSonic waiting out the weather at the John Wayne Marina. They told us all about their hull and deck coming apart. The deck is attached with pop rivets and many of them failed along one side for about two meters of the seam—when they realized the boat was acting sluggish, they looked inside to see at certain tacks, waves of water coming in filling the boat with about 100 gallos of water. They have since repaired it quite nicely and they're drying off all their gear, ready to go on. The boat otherwise handled really well.
